Hostel & Apartments Zdrava Hrana

Difficult to find, but once you do you realize how wonderful the location is: very close to the old city, yet far away from all the noise of this place. The owner is very nice, when we couldn't find the hostel she came to meet us at a location close by where we were.

Difficult to find, but once you do you realize how wonderful the location is: very close to the old city, yet far away from all the noise of this place. The owner is very nice, when we couldn't find the hostel she came to meet us at a location close by where we were. The rooms were clean with private bathrooms, 1 of them even had a kitchen. The description is accurate. I recommend the location to anyone who visits Mostar.

Highly recommended for budget travelers.

I stayed for a week. The owner was very gracious and helpful. When I arrived, she gave me a choice of 3 different apartments for the same price. I chose one on the top floor (1 floor below the owner's apartment). The accommodation was only 15.50 euros a night, and could easily have slept 3 people. This price also included air conditioning, a small kitchen with refrigerator and a portable stove with 2 electric burners, and decent wifi -- actually much better than the wifi I've had for most of my 2 months of traveling, thank goodness, since this was a working holiday for me.

Besides the wifi, what I enjoyed the most was waking up in the morning, making coffee, and then having my cup of joe + a yogurt and some fruit outside on the shared balcony (shared with 2 other apartments, which were empty during my stay) whilst checking emails.

It's a bit hard to describe this place in western English terms, because it's not exactly a hostel in the way I'm used to thinking about hostels (no bunk beds, no lockers, no curfew, no organized tours, etc.) and it's not exactly an apartment (no full kitchen) and it's not exactly a balcony either! It's sort of a shared social area that is covered but is open to the outside. It reminded me a bit of the Turkish house I visited while in Mostar, where there was a "talking" room that emphasized socializing with others. Anyway, I wish I could add a photo of it here because it was a really lovely little space with several different-sized tables, and different sorts of chairs, but all very inviting. Besides eating breakfast there, I imagine it would be a nice place to have a smoke (if I smoked) or play cards or have a pre-dinner brandy or a post-dinner wine. And the view of the city from this 'balcony' was also quite picturesque, particularly at sunset.

All-in-all, a very satisfying stay in a beautiful and fascinating city.

Could use a few more dishes, but overall it was a great place to stay. It even had an A/C which was definitely a plus. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Downtown and the famous Mostar bridge was only a 5-minute-walk. Safe area around the hotel.

Had a really pleasant stay here, the owner was incredibly helpful and made my stay as smooth as possible. A little difficult to find at first if on foot, but they offer a pick up and drop service if required. really well positioned for access to the old town and the main shopping area. Plus its only 5-10 mins walk to the train and bus station.

I would happily stay there again and recommend it to anyone.

Zdrava Hrana is well located, within a short walk of the old part of town, yet quiet and peaceful. The owner is very friendly and helpful and makes you feel most welcome. We arrived at the bus station & a chap there asked us where we were staying and then phoned them and they sent a car to pick us up. All very informal and no money changed hands. The rooms are pretty basic, but if there are a few free you get to pick which one you want and there are nice areas outside each room to sit & eat / chat. Breakfast (bread, omlette, local cheese & jam) is also brought to your room when you want it, although the coffee is pretty foul!
