About Berambih Lodge

Internet Access Breakfast Included 24 hour reception

Strategically located along Ewe Hai Street in the heart of beautiful Kuching City, Berambih Lodge is only a few paces from the famed Kuching Waterfront and 50 feet from the oldest Chinese Tua Pek Kong Temple.

Straddled between the old and new city hubs, you could spend the morning walking along quaint narrow alleyways in old Kuching where tin-smiths noisily go about their work, spice and textile traders selling their merchandise and then spend the afternoon wandering around modern malls in new Kuching afterwards.

Location: superb!
Service: the staff are very friendly..

only two things to be improved:
1. the thin wall
2. the bathroom cleanliness.

other than that, awesome!

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

My review comments here are given without prejudice and with the hope that things will get better and better very soon.

The common facilities like toilet, bath room needs a higher standard of sanitation with more regular cleaning daily using antibacterial agent like detol.Toilet floors should be kept dry (how this is done needs figuring out) and sponge mop provided for users to use. Sometimes there is soiling of areas around and under the toilet seat cover and this is not hygenic.Disposal items like toilet rolls should be replenished frequently and hand washing liquid should be of an antibacterial type.

Visually the shower area is in need of more improvement like getting rid of the fungal growth on the walls and floor, install new shower head holder, new soap holder or have wall mounted body detergent dispenser, install toilet windows that can open and close properly, install new towel hooks and place them on the back of the toilet doors and resolve any plumbing issues.

Owner should engage an anti-termite specialist to give the entire place (especially the beds, timber floors, timber roof structure including ceilings) a thorough check and fumigated to stop bed bugs infestation and termite attack, etc.

Owner has the responsibilty to ensure the place is not a fire hazard with so much combustible materials being used as interior decor on the ground floor area. Are there any portable fire
extinguishers available in an emergency?
Mosquito nets should be installed wherever needed instead of using insecticide spray which
not advisable.

There are some parts inside the building where the head room or passage ways are not so adequate or are narrowed and these could cause accidents to occupants.

Although free internet is available, somehow the connectivity is very, very slow.
The rooms should be provided with chair(s) and a table for wireless surfing on the internet in their rooms.

It would be great to provide a fridge for the users who may want cold drinks since the weather is hot and humid or to keep some personal stuff like chilled fruits, etc.

The pantry area seems to lack general cleanliness and this place should have more brighter lighting and the wash basin made more accessible by adopting a less compact furniture layout.

The lighting levels in the rooms,TV lounge and the reception area are insufficient and trying to read newspapers, surf internet, etc,is very hard on the eyes.

Regards

I stayed here for 6 nights all up with my wife and 3 children and it was great. Shaun who was in charge was very friendly and helpful and the place has a great vibe. There is a longhouse style common room which my kids loved. It is in a great spot for seeing all that Kuching has to offer and is close to heaps of good eating places. We had a terrific time.

The guesthouse is really well located near to the waterfront in the old atmospheric part of Kuching. We had a nice family room on Ewe Hai Street (which is not noisy !), but some other rooms are windowless. All the infrastructure is something old, the walls are thin but the staff is friendly, on the groundfloor there is a comfortable space to make your breakfast or have tea... a good address !
