They were so sweet with us,
with an accident during the period we spend in the hostel and they just take care of everthing, they helped us as much they can.
The place it's nice close to the beach a little bit far from the main street but they can afford for any facility, dogs are so cute and the owner frendly and genlty, best play to spend a week in Langkawy

Single, shared bathroom, pretty rough (straıght brıck, no paint covering), at the back of nearby restaurant, often bad reek from broken pipes (probably restaurant loo). Rather wet at the end of Monsoon. Dark. With the exception of the most expensive rooms, they are generally rough, some of them with ultrta-thin, makeshift walls. Some lack of privacy, especially in otherwise nice courtyard, when full house.
Free tea, but forget about free cofee: ground one, undrinkable. Lots of English footie on satellite tv. DVD collection in the bar.
Nice cleaning ladies. "Legendary" Neve, receptionist and actual factotum: hard-working and efficient, most people liked her company at the bar, too. A problem, though: if you stay for long enough, she will ask for money on account of personal problems. Told by quite a few expats and locals she and her boyfriend are notorious drug-addicts. Owner told me so too (!!). She owes money to a lot of people on the island, including 200 euro to a long term guest of the house. I felt harrassed, lied to me a couple of times in very macabre circunstances (the death of a guest on account of a byke accident) just for the money. Thinks the world owes her a living.
Owner sulky and morose, will not answer if greeted. Upset people because of this (me too). He actually threw me away after a two-month stay because I dropped my food at dinner and then threw it away into the dustbin. Not even given a hearing in the morning when told to leave, at the beginning of high season: rough time for me. Told me Neve was going to be fired; is it true? She may still be harrassing people because of the misery she was being paid and her addictions.
Otherwise, short term stay can be very happy. Tenga Beach, beautiful and quiet. Lush nature, water buffalos included, around. Very cheap. Nice socializing at the bar at times. Nice guests often. Good restaurants nearby, especially Cactus. Lots of things to do on island. But staff, shame.

I booked Zackry's Guest House after reading some good reviews by the travellers but was little disappointed with my stay there. I stayed in room number 22 with attached bathroom but the bathroom did not have any door, just a curtain. The flush tank was also broken and it started overflowing in morning and kept on overflowing for 3-4 hours wasting too much of water. Some water also poured into our room as there was no door. Lots of mozzies in the room. When I asked Zackry for a mosquito coil, instead of giving one to me he made lots of remarks all of which were disappointing 1) you must have left the door open to allow mosquitos to get in the room 2) You should have asked for the coils before 9PM 3) You should not use coils in room. But the lady there was very good and friendly which made the stay a little comfortable (she also provided a mosquito coil for other night). Its cheaper by few bucks but not much. Location was also not great.

What a great place! Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Fabulous location-right near the beach and shops and restaurants-really laid back with good outdoor common area-really relaxed place. My 3 kids (11,14 and 14) loved it. Clean room and air conditioning and well run. Very highly reccomended if you want a cheap good place in a wonderful location.

Zackry has such a laid back atmosphere. Zackry and Neeve are such welcoming people. Staying here really feels like staying at a friend's place! Everyone is open, friendly and honest! The honesty system is fantastic as well. But, be reminded this is not the place for people who are looking for a hotel. You don't have to be used to backpacking to stay here, just be open minded, friendly and independant. Everyone there is more than willing to help you out!
