For the price we pay, it's considered value for money. It's location within walking distant to Chinatown & Jonker Street was quite ideal. We were given a ground floor room without outside window. According to the staff there are double rooms with ensuite bath that comes with a balcony. However at the time of my booking this option wasn't available for internet booking.

Kota Lodge is simply a home away from home. Ideally located in the heart of Chinatown means, you can easily access yourself to the most historical part of Melaka in merely 2 minutes on foot.
Kota Lodge starts another new chapter with new furnishing, a new lobby and a coffee room complete with a 32' LCD T.V for the customer relaxation.
All type of Malacca food could be found near Kota Lodge..from Chinese (tim sum), Malay (nasi lemak), Indian (tandoori Chicken), Vegetarian Food and also the popular Baba & Nyonya. A 24 convienent shop is just round the corner
Kota Lodge has been highly recomended by the word of mouth from those who had a chance to stay here.
We provide all we can to make your stay the most memorable in your travel. En-suites rooms are with hot/cold showers, air-condition, writting table. From the hotel u could have view of the local market as well as the historic Malacca Houses which now come under UNESCO WORLD HERRITAGE SITES.

Perhaps the internet booking system should be improved to let guests have acknowlege of type of rooms at Kota Lodge & only notify when such rooms are fully booked.

The Kota Lodge was excellent value for money with bright, clean rooms, a shower and toilet and good a/c very well located close to old city.
A friendly and welcoming place within very easy walking distance of some of the best local food we have found in Malaysia. The provision of a common room where guests could make a cup of tea and meet was a touch that is not often found.
We have been travelling for over 6 months and intend to be on the road for another couple of years. If we find more places like the Kota Lodge we will be happy.

Room without a window was disappointing and there was no mention that the rooms downstairs had no natural outside light. It appears that if you want to have a room with a window you have to tell them as we found out when we arrived...maybe the information on the web page needs modified.
Some facilities were available in the shared common room where there was the chance to make a hot drink but you need bring your own tea, coffee and milk. This would be a good extra for KOTA LODGE if the makings were provided and there was even the chance for tea/coffee and toast inthe mornings
The staff were friendly and helpful although there appeared some problem over the booking of our taxi early on the final morning for catching the bus to the airport.
If you want a basic room that is clean in a good location then i would recommend the KOTA LODGE.

Directions
Get Bus No 17(Town Bus Service)from Melaka Sentral Bus Station. Request to stop at the Clock Tower. Cross the bridge across from the Clock Tower and turn left. Keep on the left till you past Heeren House. The first junction behind Heeren House turn right. Walk about 120 meters and you will find us.
