Welcome to the famous family run guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar where you will feel at home. The Golden Gobi is a friendly, spacious, and clean guesthouse located in the heart of the city. The main attractions of museums, monastery, main Square, postal office and main street of Peace Avenue all in walking distance 2-5min.
We have 48hours cancellation policy and bookings will need to be cancelled by email two days before guest is supposed to arrive. The payment is upon arrival by cash or credit cards. The deposit is non refundable.
Check in from 12:00 and check out before 11am.

This review concerns only the Golden Gobi Guesthouse 2, as in Ulaanbaatar there are two of them. NOT for the Golden Gobi 1
We (2 people) spent the night at the hostel. During the night, my friend forgot her wallet in the bathroom and when she found it again the morning after, of course, the money was gone. Of course we're not blaming anybody in the hostel for that, nor did we expect to recover the lost money; but we thought we should at least mention the fact, which we did the same morning to one of the two hostel keeper (the one who doesn't speak english), which then mentioned it to the responsible lady, appartently the owner of the hostel.
This lady went berserk, threatened to call the police (but didn't) and said she was LOCKING the hostel (with us inside, as "suspects") until the arrival of the police, claiming that she would not tolerate the harming of her guesthouse' reputation. She also repeatedly requested that me and my friend search the other guests' luggages in an attempt to recover. To our attempts to speak with her, she always refused to listen. I let you imagine the situation with people, even those who had had nothing to the with the situation, blocked inside; among them, one had to take a plane. Fortunately we realized that she hadn't locked the door, and he managed to leave, but after that they REALLY locked the door.
In the end this situation was resolved by her request that we (me and my friend) apologize to the other guests and to her, which we did. Needless to say, I am now extremely happy to hurt their reputation.
I want to make it clear, we don't blame them for the theft of our money (entirely our fault), but for the criminal way they handled the situation with; not mention the insults, the pushing and the targeting of the victims.
So if you stay at this hostel (which of course i don't advice), forget about mentioning anything wrong, "Hercule Poirot" might target you, and ruin other people's day besides yours.

Tea and coffee made for you whenever your passing. We went on a nine day trip in the Gobi Desert organised through Golden Gobi and I couldn't recommend it more. Both the Zaya, our guide, and Mogi, the driver, were fantastic. So many incredible memories.
