I had a lovely time at the Dar Salam. It was a little tricky to find, but once you did it was an easy walk to the medina and the new city, surrounded by interesting things.

About Dar Salam
DAR SALAM, is a ryad which has 7 rooms, which are well decorated and all have en suite,there is also the roof terrace from which you can see the koutoubia mosque which is illuminated at night and is a lovely site to see.This ryad is small and homely and you will be welcomed in a true moroccan way, breakfast is also provided at no extra cost. The ryad is located in the north of the Medina (the old city) which is a 10-15 minute walk to djem el fna, it is also a 10 minute walk to the new city(GUELIZ). We have a menu consisting of 25 moroccan dishes which can be prepared on request, at a cost of 25-30 euro per person.wine can be supplied at a cost of 12 euros per bottle, beer can be supplied at a cost of 3 euros per bottle.
Excursions can be arranged from the ryad ,also car rental can be arranged from the ryad too.The staff will be keen to help with any requests you may have,transfer from the airport to the ryad is free if 7 night or more have been booked , other than the afore mentioned transfer from the airport also can be arranged at a cost of 15 euros, this is for up to 6 people. Keys are provided for the main door,so you are not limited to a set time on returning to the ryad,the staff will ensure and help in anyway permitted, so you enjoy your stay as much as possible here in Marrakech.
I would also like to warn anyone travelling to Morroco from Scotland to ensure you change your Scottish money into English notes as your scottish money will not be accepted anywhere in Morroco, dont be one of these people who forget about this as there is a lot who do. i would also like to inform people that there is a bus from the airport at a cost of 2Euro per person and the bus station at Bab Doukkala is a 5 minute walk to our ryad. a taxi will cost you 15 Euro. The buses are comfortable and clean and the driver will drop you at any location you require.
excursion information;we can arrange excursions to, OURIKA ( the valley in the atlas mountains), , ESSAOUIRA (by the seaside,) ,OUARZAZAT( the kasbah), CASCADE DOUZOUD (waterfalls), PALMERIE,for the camels .

I had a lovely time at the Dar Salam. It was a little tricky to find, but once you did it was an easy walk to the medina and the new city, surrounded by interesting things.
The owner, Sobha, could not have been more helpful, even getting up insanely early on the day of our departure to make us breakfast.
I will definitely stay there again when next I am in Marrakech.

We had a very nice stay at Dar Salam. It was a bit challenging to find and the phone number on the website didn't work, but other than that we had a great time. Our room was on the roof terrace...it was a nice environment! Thanks

When we arrived , our room was not available and we were taken to another Riad 10 mins away were we had to stay for the first 2 nights. This Riad was basic, rooms were cold and the shower didn't work. When we returned to Dar Salam, we were given the tent on the roof. It was a bit smelly and dark but aleast the shower worked. It rained during our stay so the walls of the tent got abit wet. If your on a buget Dar Salam is fine. Don't stay here if you are at all fussy about cleanliness. Its about 15 min walk to the main square and you do get a feeling for the real Marrakesh in this part of the medina.

Hostel was really fantastic inside. Rooms were really nicely decorated with good communal areas down stairs and on the roof top. Our room was a little more expensive, however it included breakfast and had an airconditioner.
On arrival hotel seemed to be in a dodgy area, but in reality was no worse than most others in Marrakech.
Some friends had trouble trying to book a camel tour through the owner tho, so it may be best to plan this beforehand. Also owner will prepare a shisha (flavoured tobacco) on request for a small fee.
Location around 15 - 20 mins walk from main square.
Highly recomended. We will be going back again after our tour.

We were made very welcome by Sobha and her family at this small, friendly riad. We stayed in beautiful tented rooms on the roof with a delightful private terrace for breakfast and felt we were sampling a real taste of Morocco. The family arranged a meal for us at a nearby georgous riad at a very reasonable price and short notice when we arrived late; they also cooked a delicious meal at Dar salam on another evening. Everyone was very helpful and hospitable. We were able to walk to the souks, the main square and the new town easily and taxis were only a minute or two away on the main road.
The only negative remark I can make is the weather was extremely hot when we went so air conditioning would have been welcome, at the time of our visit this was not working.I would go again in a cooler season.
