This for me was very disappointing as it was one of our destinations that I have been looking forward to the most. The website is a bit mis-leading. "True love GUEST HOUSE" says something totally different than a small apartment in a very noisy and student crowded area. We expected something more along the lines of "romantic" and not a tiny little apartment with the sides of your front door covered with "grafitti".

Truelove is in the historic centre of Amsterdam, the Jordaan, and just minutes walking distance from Central Station. The main shopping centre, night life and tourist attractions are all also nearby. We are centrally located and cater for travellers who want to explore the busy and lively city of Amsterdam, but like to stay in more tranquil surroundings. You can find Truelove in the Prinsenstraat 4, between the Keizersgracht and the Prinsengracht, close to the Noordermarkt. In the basement and on the ground floor you will find our Truelove Antiques and Art. Our Guesthouse is situated on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor. All our rooms have private shower and toilet and have double beds, t.v., hairdryers, radio alarm and coffee and tea making facilities. The guesthouse is located above and next to our antique shop which is in the basement and on the ground floor. As safety is one of our priorities all rooms are equipped with smoked detectors. This for me was very disappointing as it was one of our destinations that I have been looking forward to the most. The website is a bit mis-leading. "True love GUEST HOUSE" says something totally different than a small apartment in a very noisy and student crowded area. We expected something more along the lines of "romantic" and not a tiny little apartment with the sides of your front door covered with "grafitti"... it was not explained that the apartment does not get serviced - we stayed for 3 nights and had to eventually buy our own toilet paper - as they only provided one roll. This apartment would be a perfect spot as a student traveller seeking the thrill of coffee shops and pubs. The reception area is the actaul antique shop with the guest house above - this area was always closed with a note on the door with a telephone number for any assistance - NO personal touch.

Our room was wonderful. We were close to transportation to and from the airport, in a lovely neighborhood for strolling, nearby cafes and restaurants were excellent and the shopping wass not just curios, including a wonderful neighborhood wine shop and an exquisite candy/ chocolate shop. However, the directions to the shop we received were not correct and it took us a while to find the shop. The person who helped us find our room was very helpful. The room was perfect for our short stay, and we could purchase food and drink and had a place to keep it. The bath was efficient and in the room, which as Americans we appreciated! We had a lovely time and have suggested Trulove to friends and family planning to visit.

A nice room, close to the centre of Amsterdam, to the Dam, to the Central Station and to the RLD.The room was clean but I found A Mars paper under the bed...So the Cleanliness got only 2 stars...whatever, it's a nice room, pretty cheap for the area, and first of all in a strategic position. Hope they watch under the bed the next time... Nicolo

Loved it! Perfect location, very clean and tidy - although no daily servicing of towels etc. Small, but that's Amsterdam.
Owners were very helpful in the lead up to our stay answering any questions we had.
Would recommended it to anyone that doesn't have difficultly climbing narrow stairs.

If you take the train from the airport to Amsterdam central station. Costs approx. 4 Euro per person. This one departs from Schiphol every 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Amsterdam you can either walk to the guesthouse which takes 7 minutes (see directions underneath) or take a small local bus called the 'STOP en Go'. This one departs outside central station. Ask the driver to drop you of on the corner of the Prinsengracht and Prinsenstraat as the bus has no formal stops
If you decide to take a taxi from the airport or central station take a TCA BLOKBAND taxi to avoid being overcharged and driven all over the city. The cost of a taxi from the airport is about 50 to 55 euros and from central station approx. 10 euro. You must tell the taxi driver from the airport to go via Rozengracht/ Keizersgracht and for drivers from central station via Brouwersgracht/Keizersgracht and than take the 1st right into the Prinsenstraat.
To walk to the house: Going out of the station to your right and walk till you see the 1st canal on your left which is the Singel Canal. Go onto this one and walk till you see the 1st small canal called Blauwburgwal on your right. (it is just a narrow one) go into this one and walk straight on into the Herenstraat and than Prinsenstraat. Will just take 7 minutes
