About International Budget Hostel
International Budget Hostel is beautifully situated in the heart of the city center in the Leidseplein (leidsesquare) area. Leidsesquare is the most famous nightlife area in Amsterdam.
The location of the hostel is on a quiet, beautiful canal - the Leidsegracht.
The hostel is a few minutes from the famous Van Gogh Museum, beautiful Dam Square, entertaining Red light district, relaxing Vondelpark, historical Anne Frank House and the best clubs, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and many more great places. The staff will provide you with great ideas to spend your time in Amsterdam.
The hostel has a cosy lounge facing the canal where one can relax and socialize and meet other fellow travallers. Breakfast is not included in the room price but is available in the lounge between 9am and 12noon. The lounge has vending machines, a television, an internet station and a public phone. Free WIFI is available in the entire hostel.
Rooms are shared mixed from triples,quads to 5 & 6 person rooms. Each hallway has showers and wc's.
The entire hostel have smoke detectors.
Due to the new non-smoking law which is introduced since July 1st 2008, smoking will not be permitted in the entire hostel.
There is video security in all public areas.
Reception hours are from 9am until 11pm but the hostel has no curfew. So, please contact reception the day before your arrival date if you are arriving after 11pm.

There is a 5% surcharge when paying with Visa or Mastercard and 10% surcharge for American Express.
City tax of 5% is not included.

We have a 24hr cancellation policy during the week; 48hr for weekend reservations (Fri, Sat, Sun). Cancellations made less than 24hrs in advance shall be charged for the first night's accommodation. Cancellations made at arrival shall be charged for the first night's accommodation plus 50% of the remaining balance. If you cancel during your stay and the reservation is prepaid you will be charged for the rest of your booking (100%). Cancellations around the holiday period must be emailed/faxed to the International Budget Hostel a week before arrival date to avoid a 50% charge on your credit card. Cancellations on arrival are charged for the full amount.
WEEKEND RESERVATIONS
We have a minimum stay of 2 nights over the weekends (Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday). Weekend reservations are subject to a TWO NIGHT cancellation fee should the 24 hours notice not be observed.
Booking conditions Holidays:
All cancellations are required to be faxed or e-mailed to the International Budget Hostel 1 week prior to arrival date. Failure to do so will result in a 50% fee, which will be charged to the given credit card. Cancellation upon arrival will result in full payment.
Upon arrival, payment for accommodation is to be made in advance.
All reservations will be held until 23.00 p.m. unless arranged differently with reception.
The reservation will be terminated if the hostel does not get authorisation on the credit card.

The booking fee and the 10% deposit is charged by Hostel World and it is not refundable.

I made a reservation for four 4 bed rooms two months ahead. An "Andrew" confirmed that.
On arrival they gave us two 8 bed rooms instead - but charged the same amount.
Protest was not acceptet. "Take it or leave." This Andrew would not work here anymore.
We had to accept the new terms or to sleep on the street.
The rooms were obvious the former 4 bed rooms. The normal beds were replaced by bunk beds. There was almost no space in the room. The kitchen, which was still depicted on the evacuation plan, was locked. Bath and toilet failities were rare (2 for 32 persons), there is one (!) Computer in the lobby, for your internet access. (But also a WiFi.) Breakfast costs extra - but does not arrive before 9 a. m. At least the hostel has a pin code for the door, so you can access 24 hours.- Please remind, that they are willing to "forget" your reservation or change the condition if they can earn more otherwise.
While the cleanliness was average, but not more, friendliness was aweful. The location of the hostel is quite good but remind what you also trade in if you book here.

GREAT location in the middle of the city a few minutes from the restaurants and trams. You could easily walk across thow whole Amsterdam centre from here.
Long and steep stairs to the rooms but clean rooms with lockers- perfect for backpackers!
A big commonroom with possibilities to meet fellow travellers and a very good wi-fi. But it was just the room, nothing else to do there.
Price could be cheaper but overall a good hostel for a night or two if you just sleep there.
