I am happy to recommend Hello B&B. We were received and looked after very well. The room was clean but, almost more importantly, had character to it...a nice change from the usual standard stuff one sees. Breakfast was fine. And the place within nice walking range of the city centre.
Oh, and Utrecht itself is great!

Lovely people, good location, but a big effort to get upstairs with heavy suitcases! Plus we booked a double room and got a twin.

From the 'Utrecht Centraal Station', walk past the taxi rank to the end, go down the flight of stairs. On the right-hand side should be a park, go across it then turn left at the end, then walk straight on, then over a crossing. If you look to your right you should see a furniture store called 'Broekman', turn right into the Herenweg and we are number 32 on the left. This should not take longer than 10-15 minutes if you have any problems call and I will direct you by phone.
Alternatively take bus number 3 direction 'Zuilen' for 2 stops to the 'Broekman' furniture shop as previously mentioned.
