This was further from town than we thought with the bus 500metres away. We booked a 6 person dorm and got put in an 8 person dorm on the top floor. We found it very noisy. The breakfast was very good. We didn't find the staff very helpful

Stayokay Utrecht - Bunnik is located in the forest on the banks of the Kromme Rijn, only 5 km from the city Utrecht. The historic hostel comprises three buildings, two of which date back to 1830. History lives here! The largest Ridderhofstad building has three dining halls and rooms for nearly 80 guests. The bar in the adjacent carriage house features historic decor. The French doors lead to the terrace, with a lovely view.
The In de Bongerd building stands alone, featuring a recreation room and terrace and is ideally suited for groups of up to 60.

We had a brilliant stay and we really enjoyed the scenery. The staff was really helpful and we had a great time in the bar. The room was very basic and the hostel is located perhaps just too far from Utrecht city centre to walk there -hence the three stars for value. Apart from that, we would absolutely recommend this hostel to anyone. We were reluctant to leave it.

I attended a wedding which was held here and afterwards the guests slept over. The major drawback for independent travellers is that it's hard to get to. You pretty much have to have a car. So if you are thinking of staying here but want to hang out in the city of Utrecht most of the time, choose someplace else.
However if you want to stay in a fantastic typical old Dutch mansion in the middle of green fields, canals and trees, and have some peace and quiet, this is the place!
Service was good, but as the entire place was rented, I can't really say how it normally is.
All in all, I would recommend this place, especially to couples looking for a nice, quiet getaway near Utrecht. Preferably with own transport.

Stayokay Utrecht - Bunnik is a 3km walk from Bunnik station. From Utrecht station you can take bus 40 or 41 in the direction of Wijk bij Duurstede and get off at the Rhijnauwen stop. The hostel is located 400m from the stop.
