Kate's Place was an ideal friendly place for our short stay in Martinborough. It is within comfortable walking distance of the town centre and several wineries. We stayed in the ensuite double room which was comfortable and characterful, with its own double door out to the garden. We also had access to all backpacker facilities if we wanted. This is a traditionally built home in the town.

Kates Place is a small homestay and backpackers in Martinborough, one of New Zealands premier wine growing areas. Cosy and homely the house has 2 bunk rooms with 4 beds in each as well as a double room. Each of these rooms has its own bathroom. Cost includes all linen, full use of the kitchen and living facilities and has laundry and internet facilities available for a small extra charge. Guests are encouraged to treat the place as home.
Kates Place is in the heart of Martinborough within walking distance of the shops, cinema, most wineries and the boutique brewery. Its a great place to use as a base to explore the beautiful Wairarapa region.

Directions
Martinborough is an hour by train from the centre of Wellington, New Zealand's capital. The train stops at Featherston where buses meet the train and will take you the ten minute trip to Martinborough. The bus driver will generally drop you at the door.
By car it is approximately 1 hour 15 from Wellington, 2 hours from Palmerston North and 3 hours from Hawkes Bay. Take the main Wairarapa Road and Martinborough is well signposted from Featherston, Greytown and Carterton.
