The Maori Mural Building in the centre of OPUNAKE, World Famous for Surf & Mountain views. Where you can surf in the morning & go skiing in the afternoon. Wild West coast cliffs, reefs,& beaches to safe swimming Black Sand Surf Beach of Opunake. Life Savers on Duty during the summer months December to March.

Opunake has its own fresh water lake & river for Trout fishing.

Directions

Opunake is located half way on the Surf Highway 45.
60 kms South of New Plymouth
45 kms North of Hawera.
The most western point on the North Island.

Surf Lodge 45 is on the corner of Tasman & Napier Street,
Tasman Street is the main road Surf Highway 45.

Opposite the TSB Bank and Peter Snell Statue.
A larger than life size bronze of a world record mile runner in the 60's.

Surf Lodge 45 is a two storey building with accommodation upstairs.
Entrance is at the front and back by large gates.
Secure offstreet parking.

The building is painted in a stand out Maori Mural that you will not miss.
A story form the East Coast with the Sun God rising in the morning greeting the Ocean waves and whales, travelling with the Wind God across the central Mountain ranges and Meeting the Forest Gods of Taranaki. The Fire Gods breathing extreme heat from their Volcanic mouths to meet the Earth God residing on the West coast where English explores discovered the Shores in their whaling Ships.
