About Hippo Lodge

Our small friendly hostel with fabulous views can make your stay a very pleasant one. We don't accept coach tours so there's no big groups of people, only individual travellers enjoying an experience they'll never forget.

All our beds are fully made up with linen and duvets. We have e-mail facilities, cheap wireless, laundry, a drying room for skiers and boarders and free storage when you go on hikes.

The lodge is centrally heated for those crisp winter nights and we have picnic tables and a barbeque to cook your summer meals. (Don't worry we have a fully catered kitchen too).

We are a five minute walk up a hill from the centre of town and are close to shops, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, and many attractions. Breathtaking walks are only a step away from our door.

So why not come see for yourself and when you are here we can help organise your activities for you.

Hippo Lodge has 3 separate areas so 3 kitchens, 3 lounge areas and various bedrooms. Most areas have breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains beyond. We are in a quiet street but only a 5 mintue walk from the centre and 10 minutes from the airport. Each area has its own style. The entire hostel is centrally heated and the beds are made up with fresh linen and cosy duvets. Kitchens are well equipped and each area has common lounge areas to relax in.

Directions:
From Town Centre walk down Shotover Street (away from town) heading towards Fresh Choice Supermarket. Shotover St turns into Gorge Rd. If walking, turn RIGHT at Turner St. Go up the stairs. Cross Hallenstein and head up Anderson Hts.
If driving, turn RIGHT at Weaver, RIGHT at Hallenstein and left on Anderson Hts.
