Sweet as! I stayed here for about 2 and a half months doing the work for accommodation. The bar in the basement is awesome, free pool almost all the time, wednesdays are $4 nights...crazy. most of the staff is pretty cool.

Conditions
1)We must receive a valid notice of cancellation of your booking in writing at wellington@stayatbase.com within 90 days prior to day of arrival.
2)Any cancellation within 90 days of the check in date will incur 100% cancellation fee.
3)No shows will also be charged for the full reservation and any remaining nights cancelled.
4)For a notice of cancellation to be valid, it must include the hostel name, reservation name, guest name and email address as these details appear on your confirmation booking.
5)Any requested changed with respect to your booking including check-in and check-out dates and configuration of accommodation, must be made directly with the hostel where you have booked your accommodation. You acknowledge that all reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate your request, but there is no obligation or guarantee that your booking will be changed.

The hostel is very well located in the center of Wellington, that is the best I can say of this place. I stayed four nights at the 7th floor, but showers were unavailable, I had to go to the 6th floor to take a shower, and there were 7 dorms at my floor, plus the dorms at the 6th floor!
At breakfast they served bread well past its expiry date, they claimed it was kept in a freezer.
They try to charge six dollars for breakfast even though they claim breakfast is included, I did not payed but I had to argue with the reception to get it free all the four mornings.
And beware of the 2% surcharge if paying by credit card.

Sweet as! I stayed here for about 2 and a half months doing the work for accommodation. The bar in the basement is awesome, free pool almost all the time, wednesdays are $4 nights...crazy. most of the staff is pretty cool. there are a couple weirdos as long termers but over most of the people that seem to pass through are pretty cool. lots of south americans here...good people. good times. I think it's expensive though. but the location is crazy good. it's right around the corner from the establishment, maya, minibar, lots, vespa, all the great bars in town.
that being said wellington is tiny so all of the hostels are no more than a 5 minute walk from most of these bars, it's just that base is about a minute away.
it's also right down the street from the supermarket.
