staid there for 3 nights,had the room with privat bathroom.Bed was very good,room is simple but clean.Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Location is in the safe aerea of the old town.It will be my place again on my next stop in Panama.

Beautiful mansion built during the early years of the past century as a family residence, it has recently been restored to serve as a hostel.
Hospedaje Casco Viejo has fourteen rooms and twelve bathrooms. Six of the bedrooms offer a private bathroom and the remaining eight bedrooms share six restrooms conveniently located in the adjacent corridors. The comfortable bedrooms are equipped with modern fans and functional furniture, guaranteeing our visitors with a pleasant stay.
Hospedaje Casco Viejo's facilities provide our guests with Internet access, entertainment room with color T.V., fully equipped kitchen, laundry area, a charming quaint patio, a spectacular terrace with a magnificent view of the Old Quarter and a room and restroom specially designed for handicapped visitors. Additionally, we offer free service of linen and towels and tourist information. Open 24 hours a day. If required, transportation to and from airport can be arranged (Taxi Fee USD $ 28 ) .
Located in the very heart of the monumental compound of the historic center, Hospedaje Casco Viejo is close to the exciting historic attractions, interesting colonial ruins, enchanting cafes and restaurants with outdoor patios and just minutes away form the metropolitan city, the Albrook Bus Terminal and the impressive Panama Canal.
The close proximity to the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Museum of Colonial Religious Art, the Panama Canal Museum, the Independence Park, the Municipal Palace, the National Theater, the 'Bovedas' (colonial fort which served as a Spanish prison) and the very beautiful San Jose Church with its legendary gold altar, makes Hospedaje Casco Viejo the perfect place to stay and discover the fascinating panamanian history at a very moderate price and in comfortable way.

Don't wander too far at night are the warnings. For $16.00 can't complain and met some nice travellers. Panama City is hot and humid and there is no air conditioning so don't look for luxury.

I stayed in a private room that had a safe, wifi access and 2 fans. Bed was pretty comfortable and hostel provided pillow sheets, towel and soap. or me the wifi was great.
The bathrooms were shared and clean enough. The water, which is cold only, ran out periodically for a couple of minutes but nothing longer.
There is a roof terrace with a few plants and a bit of a view. There is a patio downstairs by the kitchen which has a gas cooker, microwave, sink and fridge.
The location is interesting being near a lot of places of interest but is aparently quite dangerous if you stray off the beaten track. As long as you are on the main road everything is fine and the main road avenida central is couple of minutes walk away. As are supermarkets. The biggest problem is that there is a lot of building work going on outside from 7am so if you area light sleeper its not going to work.
Overall I really liked it and would come back again.

Directions
From the Tocumen Airport, it is a 20 minute taxi ride. The driver will head towards San Felipe widely known as 'Casco Viejo'.
Once you get there, you must tell the driver that you want to go to Iglesia de San José also known as the 'Altar de Oro'.
That would be the closets landmark for reference. The Hospedaje Casco Viejo is located on the side of the church. Very easy to find it. The address is Calle 8 con Avenida A, Casa 8-31, San Felipe
