Photos Facilities Map Streetview Reviews

We are a business with 82 years of hotel experience in the middle based, in the principles of tradition, elegance and distinction. THE Great Hotel BOLIVAR has an exceptional and historic location, in the heart of the shopping center and cultural, al front of the famous Plaza San Martin. To 20 minutes of the International airport Jorge Chvez and to 15 minutes of the residential and commercial district of Miraflores, to 20 minutes of the beaches and of the port of the Callao. Our Hotel counts on a strategic location, near all the but important historic monuments.

They are very few the large hotels of the world that are able been prided of to have been built especially to lodge Presidents and high dignitaries of government as the Great Hotel is it BOLIVAR.

Its construction dates from 1924, when the President of the Republic August Gift B. Legua, decided to build in File a hotel that baptized as Great Hotel BOLIVAR should be the lodging for the guests of honor that would arrive at File because of the celebrations of the Centennial of the Battle of Ayacucho, where the republican army of the Liberator Mr. Simn Bolvar, consolidated the independence of peru defeating in the Prairie of the Quinua to the realistic forces of the Virrey Spanish Gral. Mr. Jos of the Serna.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Grand Hotal Bolivar is a pretty spectacular hotel. Think 1920's grand; marble entrance halls, stained glass domed ceilings etc. Our triple room was actually a decent sized suite, with two seperate rooms as well as a seating area with 2 large sofas. The room also had a large ensuite bathroom.

The hotel is a little past its best, could do with redecorating in places, but it is perfectly clean and well kept. The staff are a little unhelpful but in a useless sort of way rather than being rude. If you are planning to head to the airport this is a great place to stay, much closer than Miraflores. Although be warned, central Lima is aweful... but possibly worth it for the extra 30 mins in bed if you have an early flight.

My main criticism of the hotel was the lack of hot water. After half a hot shower the water run out completely and left the other 2 to have ice cold showers. Not best after a 20 hour flight. But still I would recommend this place, bit of fun, probably haunted and a interesting place to start your trip.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

We thought it was good value for money. The staff were very attentive and helpful, polite and courteous. Breakfast was made and served separately for us, not a buffet, so the eggs were hot! We were given a choice of rooms, either a quiet one at the back or one overlooking a street. Both were large, the bathrooms too. However, this is an old hotel so the furniture is old-fashioned and the bathrooms could do with a facelift. Nevertheless it was clean. The beds are very firm. The hotel itself was nice and quiet. We thought it was good value for money.
