This is a Trusted Review. Why?
Had a truely great time staying at the hostel with one of the staff members sorting out a trip to see the carnival dress rehersals on the sat night and providing me with brilliant directions for getting to and from the sites. Furthermore the view from the terrace really is truely amazing and the breakfast excellent. The only down side is the location - whilst it is great for the Corcovado and old town it is a long way from the beech, requiring a, not especially cheap, taxi (and not a single taxi I got in knew where it was) or taking multiple buses / vans - which while cheap and fairly regular do take a long time. Whilst I can't really hold location against the place, it's not like they try to hide it, it was a slight draw back. But then again I was only there for 2 nights so i was short on time and probably wouldn't have been a problem if I had longer
Absolutely worth all of it!
A great place to pass some nice days with a fabulous view from the hammock-hanged terrasses over the marvelous city, inside the urban rainforest with the chance to have some little monkeys passing by the window while you're having breakfast.
The friendly and professional staff helps you out with everything you'd need.
The house has just some rooms, which are big, cozy and clean and some having the own terrasse for romantic nights, and you'd share the bathroom with the others. This is absolutely okay in this case, as the feeling is familiar (although not "hostel-like", as you can easily just be on your own without seeming suspicious.) and everything is very clean and big.
Breakfast is delicious, too.
Th house has a kitchen (big and clean also this one), so you can prepare whatever you need.
The whole price is worth it.
The only point to consider is its position on the hills of Santa Teresa, a quiet, bohemian, safe neighbourhood. It is about 30 minutes with taxi to downtown, so people who look for a long stay at the beaches of RIo, should get a place elsewhere.
Even you should buy what you need during the day, as there is no supermarket nerarby, so take care not to run out of cigarettes or whatever you'd need before coming back to the B&B.
For travellers it is interesting, as a lot of experienced Southamerica travellers of all age and culture stay in here, and you will always find someone if you need a tip also for travelling outside of Rio or Brazil.
We highly recommend the place for its uniqueness, cozyness and relation price-service.
lovley place and view, friendly staff.... feels like beeing a member of a family...
