Rio de Janeiro is an incredible city, with two very important beaches: Copacabana and Ipanema, there are activities and places for everyone, that is why we got three differents Che Lagarto in the city: Che Lagarto Ipanema, Che Lagarto Copacabana, and the new one Che Lagarto Suites!.
The Che Lagarto Suites is the best place for people who want to combine the comfort of a hotel in private rooms with all the fun of a hostel. We are located just 400 mts of the incredible beach of Copacabana, one of the most visited by tourists.
We only have private rooms, with double bed for couples or two single beds for friends that prefer to have their own room.
All suites have been recently remodeled, some of them have private bath and there are rooms with shared bath too. Thee are rooms with and without air conditioning, with sommier`s beds and TV, depending on the category. (Categories "comfort" have private bath, and categories "upper" have private bath and air conditioning).
Staying at Che Lagarto Suites is an excellent option to enjoy the fun and good atmosphere of a hostel, combined with the tranquility and privacy of a private room. Cancellations:
If the booking is cancelled 30 days before or the check in date, 70% of the deposit should be refund.
If the booking is cancelled between 29 and 15 days before the check in date, 50% of the deposit should be refund.
If the booking is cancelled 15 days before the check in date, there won´t be a refund.
Cancellations request should be made directly through Che Lagarto Reservations Desk (reservas@chelagarto.com).
Once in the hostel, if the passenger wants to leave before the booking date of check out, there won´t be a refund.
NO SHOW
If the passengers don´t arrive to the hostel in the date of its booking the bed or room booked will be available for 24 hours from the check in time. After this 24 hours the booking will be cancelled and the deposit won´t be refundable.

RSSThe Fare is a lie, le prix est un mensonge,
The price of the room was to be paied in $ only and the staff didn't tell us about it when we checked in. If you wanted to pay in reals the changing rate was no more than 20% UNDER THE ACTUAL CHANGING RATE and they wouldn't accept any other currency. We went to 4 other places during our stay in Brazil and they were the only one to impose that paying policy.
So unless you want to cross the border with a lot of cash in dollars (which is not recommended in Brazil) the actual price you will have to pay there will be from 10% to 20% higher than you will see on the site (depending on your ability to change your reals to dollars outside the hostel).
Besides that, the place looks ok on google maps but actually the neighborhood is frightening and badly located once you know RIO. Every time you want to go somewhere it TAKES 15 MINUTES to get to the next bus line or metro which are much closer to the beach. And when you get back to the hostel 15 minutes walking in the dark in such a neighborhood is not very reassuring.
Also our room was very noisy, the window that looked on the main street had two panes broken during the whole week we stayed there. My friend felt cold for a few nights but they had no blankets, only extra sheets to propose.
And finaly tough to get more than one cup of coffe for the breakfast, they would serve it little by little.
The only nice thing there was the customers.
Le prix de la chambre devait être payé en $ et le personnel ne nous l'a pas dit lorsque nous sommes arrivés. Si vous vouliez payer en real le taux était à moins de 20% SOUS LE TAUX DE CHANGE REEL et ils n'acceptaient aucune autre monnaie. Nous sommes allés à 4 autres endroits au cours de notre séjour au Brésil et ils ont été les seuls à imposer un taux aussi absurde.
Donc, à moins que vous ne vouliez traverser la frontière avec beaucoup d'argent en dollars (ce qui n'est pas recommandé au Brésil), le prix réel que vous aurez à payer, sera de 10% à 20% plus élevé que ce que l'on voit sur le site (en fonction sur votre capacité à changer vos reals en dollars à l'extérieur de l'auberge).
En outre, le lieu semble ok sur Google Maps, mais en fait le quartier est effrayant et mal situé une fois qu'on connait RIO. Chaque fois que vous voulez aller quelque part, il faut 15 minutes pour se rendre à la ligne de bus ou le métro le plus proche qui sont situés plus près de la plage. Et quand vous revenez à l'auberge de 15 minutes de marche dans l'obscurité dans un tel quartier n'est pas très rassurant.
De plus notre chambre était très bruyante, la fenêtre qui donnait sur la rue principale avait deux vitres brisées pendant toute la semaine où nous sommes restés. Ma copine a eu froid quelques nuits, mais ils n'avaient pas de couvertures, que des draps supplémentaires à proposer.
Et enfin, difficile d'obtenir plus d'une tasse de café pour le petit déjeuner, ils servent petit à petit.
La seule chose à retenir de l'hotel ça aura été les clients.
