About Gold Coast

Internet Access Breakfast Included

Please note: Children or any person under 18 years old are not allowed. Thank you.

The Gold Coast Hostel has opened for you in a improved classic building. We have several types of rooms, some of them with air conditioning. Each room is made for 2, 4, 6 or 8 people. The Hostel provides free individual safes. Our free breakfast is a light portuguese (european) one.

This is a fun hostel, but it is not a madhouse. We are not Party Central, and we will not honour bookings from Tomatina craziness and others of the kind. For those hardcore partiers looking to live it up like a rock star and have the best week you'll never remember, we strongly suggest that you book one of the other places in town who specialize in creating that type of atmosphere. You're never far from a great party in Lagos, but following it up with a good night's sleep in a relaxed and serene environment is priceless. That is what you will get at Gold Coast.

LATE SUMMER SPECIAL: Stay for four or more consecutive nights between September 21 and October 31 and get a free washing of one load of laundry!

Main check-in time is between 12 PM and 12 AM. Please let us know if you have to arrive at a different time.

Payment is in cash upon arrival.

A large kitchen / living room is available for guests use. You can enjoy and drink in our terrace with town views. There is also a barbeque and fun for everybody. And for our guests, free broadband and WiFi Internet access.

The Gold Coast Hostel is located in Lagos downtown in a great location, right near the main nightlife spots and real close to the nicest beaches that, altogether, represent the area that gives name to our place – Gold Coast.

Specials:

We make booking for transfers from Faro Airport to Lagos and from here to there. If you are interested, contact us right after making your booking. For one person, you will save up to 80% compared to taxi rates. A 48 hours advance booking is desirable.

The town:

We are in the heart of Lagos, a small laid back town, famous by its good vibe and party atmosphere, not to mention the warm and sunny days. Here you'll find top quality beaches with their clear sands and clean waters. Our coast has great quality of air and seawater hard to find elsewhere in Western Europe. Lagos has also an interesting historical heritage. If you are experiencing Spain & Portugal, travelling here it's definitely a must, since Lagos has the perfect atmosphere for everybody.

Some activities:

We are located in a area which has marvellous conditions and multiple choices on Surf, windsurf, kite surf, sailing, kayaking, microlight flight, jogging, horse riding, safaris, seafaris, grottoes trips, fun parks, water parks, big game fishing, dolphin watching and much more!!

Our team has experience in promoting accommodation and working with tourists who enjoy outdoor and sportive activities. You can try activities like small boat trips for less than € 9 or kayak from just € 25 or a Surf day trip from € 45 or even boat fishing for about 14 euros an hour. Renting scooters may be about € 25 a day and a movie ticket is less than 5 euros, just to mention some examples of local competitive prices.

Portugal is easier if you are in a budget since most supermarket food and beverage is cheaper then in most western European countries. You can also get food out in lots of places. Meals may range from 3 - 4 euros (take away Chicken shop) to 6 - 8 euros for pizzas and special pastas. Light meals may be around five euros or cheaper and you'll find awesome meat, fish or seafood dishes ranging from 7 to 15 euros.

At night, booze at the best spots may range from only € 1.50 to € 6.00 a drink for most of them, including shots and cocktails.

At Gold Coast we help you with any information you might need about Lagos and area and also about other great places in Portugal, what to see, how to get there, bus and trains timetables and more.

Directions

Coming from Faro or Lisbon you can take either a bus or a train. They run several times a day, being even more frequent on the summer and on weekdays. Coming from the north of Portugal, you'll go to Lisbon first and then directly to Lagos.

Coming from Spain: you can go to Seville and take a direct bus to Lagos. Sometimes you may get a bad info in Spain about this. Some people don't realise there is a direct bus and they will inform on alternatives which are time consuming and not necessary since you can take the bus in Seville (Plaza de Armas station). The buses to Lagos run twice a day, on a daily basis.

Flying to Faro Airport: you can take a taxi or a bus to Faro downtown where you'll find both the train and bus stations almost side by side. As mentioned above, you can use one of those to get to Lagos.

The Gold Coast is close to the Lagos main public transportation, such as bus and train. About 10 to 15 minutes walking distance.

By train:

Walk through the Marina, cross the suspension bridge and turn left to the main avenue (Descobrimentos Avenue). Continue down the main avenue, you should pass a Repsol Gasoline Station on your right hand side. Continue on for a minute and you will pass a fish market, taxi stand and post office (on a commercial street). Then, there is a small square with a funny statue in the middle. (ATTENTION PLEASE: don't walk to much on the main avenue or you'll get to a big square with another statue far from us and you'd have to return).
From there (small square), enter Rua (street) Garrett towards the next little square. You will see at one corner a snack bar named "Cavaleiro". Enter the long street around the corner from it (Rua Cândido dos Reis) and go up the hill. Turn the 4th to the right, which is exactly our street "Gil Vicente". You'll find us at the number forty-eight.

By bus (except for the Renex bus):

Leave the bus station towards the river and turn right into the main avenue (Descobrimentos Avenue). Continue down the main avenue, you should pass a Repsol Gasoline Station on your right hand side. (Start here, please, if you arrived on RENEX bus).
