Our staff will give you full information support for every spot of Romania. We know what you need as we were backpackers too so we are here to help you with whatever information you might need: what to see and do, where to stay, how to get there, maps, information, guide books, flyers and and bus/trains timetables.

'This is one of the country's finest hostels: well organized, spotless, modern and well located. Staff have a good sense of humor and know how to keep spirits high (all guests get a free beer)' --Lonely Planet

Recommended thumbs up 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008-- Let's Go

- Our central location in Old Town means we are conveniently close to everything.

- The hostel is modern, of western standards and wickedly clean.

- There are four terraces with great scenic views of Brasov and 4 bathrooms.

- EVERY NIGHT IS A PARTY: Our lounge/bar has tables and comfy couches to smoke, drink and relax. Listen to music and socialize with unique, interesting people from all over the world and party into the morning.

- Our fully equipped guest kitchen is imported from Germany.

- We have a cable TV room with VCR, 100 DVDs and couches.

- We offer the cheapest guided all-day tour of the 3 nearby castles. Other hostels overcharge.

Founded in 2001 we are the first and best hostel in Brasov. Co-owned and run by a Korean-American and a local Romanian. We understand travelers' needs because we are backpackers.

Kismet is actually an English word meaning fate, adopted from Arabic. Dao (or Tao) means The Way. Daoism is an ancient Chinese philosophy. The basic eternal principle of the universe that transcends reality and is the source of being, non-being, and change is the Dao. Put the two together and you have Kismet Dao, the Way of Fate. Find yourself here.

Directions

ADDRESS:

Kismet Dao Hostel
Str. Democratiei, 2 (near piata unirii)
Brasov, Romania

DIRECTIONS:

Taxi-- A ride from the train station should cost about 3 EUROS or 10 lei (as of June 2008). Use only taxis with company names on them (e.g. ATI, Martax, Tod, RO.) and make sure they turn the meter on. It is better most times to take a taxi than a bus.

Bus-- Take bus #51 from the train station for 8 stops till Piata Unirii. Each ticket costs 1.5 lei which you buy from a kiosk. Make sure you validate your ticket on board and WATCH FOR PICKPOCKETS!

From the #51 bus stop walk to St. Nicholas Church (in your front left), then walk up Balea Street (between the church and playground) then take the first right on to Str. Democratiei.
