If you decide to visit Bucharest, you have to consider staying with us at Friends Hostel. You will feel the charm of our friendly house, recently renovated and restructured to offer you all the comfort, enjoy a chat with the other travelers in our warm lounge area or cook your favorite meals in our cozy kitchen.

The hostel is located at 5-10minutes walk from Gara de Nord - the main Train Station in Bucharest and also at convenient walking distance from the main tourist and leisure destinations:

- Ceausescu's Palace (Parliament Palace) 20 min.

In case you don't want to walk, there are excellent connections by public transportation.

I had a nice time at Friends Hostel. Its location near the main train station is very helpful when you intend to travel to the other nice locations away from Bucharest (Brasov, Sinaia, etc...) and also when you want to travel by underground in Bucharest. A few meters from the Hostel there is a bus stop from which you can take different buses to the historical city centre (about 10 min. without traffic, which is difficult in Bucharest!!!)
There is also a big Carrefour supermark (10 min walking) which stays open until 23h.
The people who work there are nice and willing to help you.
The breakfast is a litle poor in content. You only have bread, margerine, jam and some spreadable cheese. I consider breakfast a very import meal and I expected a continental breakfast with Yogurt or milk and cereals.
The internet conexion is very good but there isn't any microphone or headset to use with Skype or any other similiar software.
The beds are comfortable and the hostel is very clean.
Overall impression: 4/5

Directions
Our address is: Str. Mircea Vulcanescu (former Stefan Furtuna) nr. 114, Sector 1, Bucharest.
From the Train Station (Gara de Nord Station), 5-10 minutes walking:
- As soon as you leave the train, head towards the end of the train tracks, and where the rail tracks end just keep going on the same directions along the central hallway. You will arrive in front of the main exit/entrance of Gara de Nord: turn right under the tall columns and go ahead, along the Witing Street. At the end, you have to turn left on Plevnei St. and then left again on Mircea Vulcanescu (former Stefan Furtuna St). The hostel is the first house on the left. The whole walk will be 5-10 minutes and it makes no sense to take a cab or any public transportation.
From the Otopeni & Baneasa Airport:
1. By bus - there is the express bus 780 (2 trips ticket = 7RON), it is leaving every 15 minutes during week days and every 30 minutes during week-ends, from around 5.00 a.m. up to 11:00 p.m. You should leave the buss at the Gara de Nord Station (this is the main Train Station in Bucharest). From there you have to walk to the hostel as described above in the section "By train".
2. By taxi - I would advice you to take Fly taxi - it is better then any other offer of private taxi driver. If they use the meter, then the total cost to our hostel should be approx. 50RON from Otopeni and 20RON from Baneasa.

Other variants:
Close to the hostel, there are the stations of various public transportation vehicles:
- busses 123, 133 get off to Station Mircea Vulcanescu or Plevnei
- trolley-busses: 62, 71, 85, 93, 96 get off to Station Mircea Vulcanescu or Plevnei (depending on the direction you are coming from).
- Metro Stations: Eroilor or Gara de Nord (see the map for directions to the hostel).
