excellent - a very good place - my first hostel, so I can't compare with others. The only caution is that the rooms are very noisy when things wake up on the road outside at about 6.30am. Go and stay there and don't worry about it. Staff were warm, helpful, and very friendly.

The relaxed atmosphere at Rio Hostel reflects the bohemian character of Santa Teresa and the renowned music scene of Lapa. A short walk along the cobbled streets, or a ride on the passing tram, leads you to the cultural centre of Santa's historical houses and artist's workshops. Whilst just down the hill (close enough to walk but far enough not to disturb the tranquillity) is Lapa famous for the best samba bars, alternative music and street parties.

With an open layout and friendly staff, everyone is welcome and we have a variety of accommodation options for you to chose from: suites with air conditioning, twin rooms, mixed or all female dorms - with fan and private lockers. Our tree lined terrace is the perfect place for you to relax after a busy day in Rio. You can have a drink by the pool listening to Brazilian tunes, or simply sit back and enjoy the dramatic skyline of downtown from our balcony. So whether you are a budget conscious traveller or after a little luxury, Rio Hostel is the place!

Important Information

Conditions

- The balance due you pay here at the hostel with Brazilian Reais or through your credit/debit card (5% fee for payment with international credit card).
- In case of no show or cancellation with less than 72 hours before check in, we will charge ONE night penalty.
- Private Room reservations for 5 nights or more, we charge 50% deposit.
- Check in time is at 12:00. You can check in any time but only get into the room at 12:00. Check out time is at 11:00. We just need your room free and the bill paid. After 11:00 we will charge half of the night value as late check out!
In both cases you can storage your luggage and are allowed to use the Hostel facilities without a problem.
