This is a Trusted Review. Why?
Noisy all the night( There's a Bar on the opposite side of the street, and there were many cars spuring in the street too).
The hostel is old and dark, with a very soft mat which is almost worn out.
The sheet is worn out.
Try find another hotel not in the city center, but cleaner and tidier.

In a word: horrible.
We arrived there and they told us that the room wasn't ready because it was dirty.(it was 14:00) They advised us to go for a walk and we went. We came back at 15:30 and they told us that it was still dirty. We went again for a walk and we arrived at 17:30 but the room was still dirty. However, we wanted to leave our backpacks in a safe place and at least to change our clothes. there was no problem they gave us the key and we went into our shared flat. The room wasn't bad the toilet more or less but when we saw the kitchen...that was the nastiest thing I have ever seen and smelled. we decided to shut the door and to forget that room. When we came back at night we had a look at the kitchen the smell was still there and it was evident that there was a quick cleanliness. The next morning we couldn't get our deposit because our bus was early in the morning and the reception wasn't open till 8. I sent them a message complaining about this and asking for my deposit: 10 Pounds, it wasn't much but taking into account the whole situation I though it was no fair! I haven't had any answer. Maybe we had bad luck (I don't thing so) but I wouldn't come back again. If I were you I would go to Budget Backpackers it has nothing to do with cowgate.
