Latest Review for Lantern Guest House

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

I stayed in the hotel in June 2009. The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk from the Princess Street, but the location is nice as it's quiet but very close to pubs, restaurants, cinema and shops. I was staying in three bed room and it was clean and maintained. The room is en-suite bathroom so no need to share with anyone and there is coffee/tea making facilities along with a TV to entertain yourself in free time. Overall, I can stay it's a good place to stay in terms of value for money.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

We really enjoyed our stay at Lantern House. The room, a twin with an ensuite toilet and shower was comfortable, and combined the old and the new nicely - old building, new facilities. The shower was great, the beds very comfortable, and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The overall impression of the building and interior was very good and a bit like a home away from home. The staff were nice and very helpful; we had to go down a flight of stairs to our room, and a staff member helped us with our luggage; we were able to leave our luggage in the office after we had checked out of our room and were able to walk around Edinburgh a bit more, and a staff member called us a taxi when we left for the station.
The location is good and in walking distance from Waverly Train Station, but since Edinburgh is hilly, a taxi to the Guest House is a good idea if you have heavy luggage.

No hot water in the showers. Other than that everything was great. Very friendly staff.
