Chase the Wild Goose Hostel at Banavie, by Fort William in the Scottish Highlands is a comfortable, well equipped hostel on the road to the Isles and the Backpackers Trail! This hostel in Banavie Fort William offers visitors an ideal base for relaxing in beautiful surroundings, for exploring the hills, the glens, the villages and lochs of the Scottish Highlands. They have been awarded a 4 star rating by Visit-Scotland!
Enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits, including walking the sunlit forest tracks and paths nearby, cycling the Great Glen Cycle Route (cycles are available for hire locally, and there is excellent secure cycle storage for your own bikes,) mountain biking at the World mountain-biking circuits on Aonach Mor and along the still shores of the Caledonian Canal and quiet back-roads. Or maybe go for an invigourating climb up Ben Nevis, the UKs highest mountain.
Walk the West Highland Way or the Great Glen Way- two must-walk, long distance footpaths beginning and ending at Fort William! Experience the abundance of wildlife that inhabits the forests, hills and lochs. Pine-martin, red deer, roe deer and common seals are regularly seen - and bird watching - the majestic golden eagle, red kite and osprey.
Why not visit the Treasures of the Earth exhibition at nearby Corpach, or taste a drop (or two) of whisky at the Ben Nevis Distillery. Learn of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite rebellion at Glenfinnan, board the cable car at Aonach Mhor for fantastic Highland views , take a journey on a steam train along the railway of the Harry Potter films, and sail on the loch to spot wildlife.
From the doorstep of the hostel you can visit the famous Neptunes Staircase on the Caledonian Canal - the longest staircase lock in the United Kingdom. Enjoy a superb meal or drink at the Moorings hotel (100m), a pub meal at the Lochy bar (200m) or venture into Fort William (£6.00 by taxi) for some Scottish music.
Accommodation is in comfortable solid pine bunk beds, in rooms from four to eight persons. We have a total of 49 beds in the hostel - more than released onto the internet.

BOOKING CONFIRMATION & CANCELLATION
The 1st night's accommodation is payable as a deposit and is non-refundable
The full balance due will be charged on arrival or on failure to show.
Cancellation - only the paid deposit is forfeit if more than 48 hours written notice has been given
If less than 48 hours written notice has been given the FULL value of the booked accommodation is chargeable
Part cancellation- the 1st night's accommodation is payable for all persons. Overnight charges for subsequent nights will be re-calculated based on the actual number staying, but the 48 hour rule will still apply.
CARD PAYMENTS:
A 2% processing fee will be charged on credit card payments (minimum £1.00 per transaction) by Mastercard and Visa. We do not accept payment by American Express. There is no processing fee on Debit cards e.g. Maestro, Delta, Electron, Solo.
ARRIVALS: Guests may normally book into the hostel from 1700 to 2230 hours. (Once booked into the hostel guests have full 24-hour access until departure day). Day guests not staying overnight will be charged at £5.00 per person
LATE ARRIVALS: Arrivals after 2230 hours are at the manager's discretion. A charge of GBP 5.00 Per Person will be levied for arrivals after 2230 and we have not received advance notice . (If you anticipate arriving later than 2230 hrs please call the hostel in advance)
DEPARTURES: Guests must depart the hostel by 1030 hours on departure day. Guests may continue to use the dining and lounge facilities between 1030 and 1200 mid-day for a payment of GBP 5.00 Per Person. After 1200 mid-day the full overnight charge will be payable. On departure day there is no access to bedrooms after 1030, as cleaning will be in progress
BEHAVIOUR - We reserve the right to charge a key deposit/good behaviour bond of between GBP 5 and GBP 10 per person on arrival or at any time during or following an individual's stay. This will be forfeit in the event of any loss of room key/disturbance caused to other guests/loss of income resulting. We reserve the right to charge for any damage caused in full. Smoking is not permitted in the premises. Guests found smoking in any building or outhouse will be required to leave the premises without further recourse or refund of fees.
CHILDREN: Children under 18 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. We regret we are unable to accommodate children under 5 years without prior written agreement.
NB. We reserve the right to change our Prices to meet changing market conditions. The price quoted to you when you book will be the amount payable. Bookings through an agency may be at a higher price due to commissions payable and booking fees. In the event that we have to cancel your booking for any reason a full refund will be given, with no liability for any consequential loss. Guests may, on occasion, be accommodated in a larger or smaller room, as operational requirements dictate, unless a 'private' room (with shared bathroom facilities) has been requested.

By Train
Take the train to BANAVIE - most trains from Glasgow to Fort William continue on via Banavie. We are 300m from the station.
From the station, cross the main road then cross the canal. Turn right through a gate into the large public car park. Walk diagonally across to the car entrance on the far side. As you walk across, you should notice a large building with flags on the top of it - this is the Hostel.

By Foot
From Fort William, either follow the car directions below or use the GREAT GLEN WAY which starts next to Morrisons supermarket in Fort William.
By Car
Travel north from Fort William on the A82, signed Inverness.
After 1½ miles, turn left on the A830 for MALLAIG 'The Road to the Isles'.
After 1 mile, cross the canal and take a right turn into BANAVIE
About 100m on the left, turn into the road signposted 'Banavie Quarry'.
Expect to see a large building with flags on the roof; this is the hostel.
By Bus
There are regular buses from Fort William. The service is Number 45 to CORPACH, and runs every 20 minutes from Middle Street in Fort William. Ask to be dropped off in BANAVIE.
From the bus stop, cross the main road and walk into the village of BANAVIE on the B8004.
About 100m on the left, turn into the road signposted 'Banavie Quarry'.
Expect to see a large building with flags on the roof - this is the hostel.
By Boat
Moor at the top of Neptune's Staircase, at BANAVIE TOP. Walk down the right hand side of Neptunes' Staircase and turn right immediatly after The Moorings Hotel. Once at the road, cross over and follow signs for 'Banavie Quarry'. The hostel has flags on the top of it.
