What a gold nugget this place really is! Soon after reaching Salvadore the owner gave us a full hour run down of the activities, sites, dos and don'ts. We had a fabulous 3 days in March including a surfing lesson taken by one of the employees. Beach and bars are close by and it's probably the best location in Salvodore. Best part about it is that we were introduced to all the other travellers staying there and had some great nights out with them. Has a relaxed family feel.

This beautiful Colonial hostel offers high standard accommodation at affordable rates in the heart of Barra-Salvador da Bahia.
Location
Located in the safest district of Salvador (Barra) you will find Barra Guest Hostel. Nestled in a quaint tree lined residential street right next to one of Salvador's most fashionable squares Jardim Brasil (Garden of Brasil) which boasts some of the best restaurants and music bars in the area. A five minute stroll from the Hostel and you will find yourself on the beautiful Porto da Barra beach with its own Naval fort or the Farol da Barra beach beneath its ancient Light House (First Light House in South America) where you can play in the warm Atlantic surf. Access to the old Historical City of Pelourinho is 10 min by taxi or 15 min bus ride away R$2.40

Your comfort and safety is the most important thing for us, therefore,
Russell & Keyko the English Brazilian owners will spend time with every guest to advise on local attractions and advice with regards to staying safe when visiting Pelourinho and other down town attractions.
Keyko's local knowledge of Bahia having lived here for 16 + years and traveled extensively throughout Brasil will ensure you get the very best out of your stay, and tips on where to head next. Keyko is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

All private rooms have international cable.
All Delux Dormitories and private rooms are air-conditioned, have private bathrooms with glass shower doors and endless hot water. Our delux dormitories have secure lockers for each guest that will take a fully packed backpack and beds with private night reading lights, full seating headroom and safe substantial stairs to access top bunks.
Please note Basic 6 bed dorm has small lockers.
Our private rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and have high quality bathrooms.

Other Hostel Facilities
A large fully fitted + equipped guest kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge and storage space. The Hostel is spacious and has several relaxed social areas both inside and out. We have preserved the colonial style of this old property with its high ceilings and large rooms so you will never feel like you are cramped. We have a dedicated DVD lounge, an information area with two super fast PCs fully Skype enabled and our Tourist information desk.
Breakfast
Our famous Hot and cold served Breakfast is available from 7.00am in our café and will set you up for the day, leaving early, 4.00am? No problem, you will have a breakfast before you leave.
During the day we serve economical meals, snacks and cold drinks in our café for you convenience.
Outside we have provided several social areas with hammocks and informal seating to enjoy a drink in the sun.
Sports Hire Center
We have several surfboards from a simple body board for the beginner to advanced boards for the pro surfer.
Never surfed but want to try, let our latest team member Junior take you and show you some surfing basics.
We also have mask, snorkel, and fins to explore the shallow reefs at out local beaches + other beach games available exclusively for our guests.

Well, what can i say, it is fantastic!!!!
It is located in a peacefull area of Salvador, near all interesting places. The owner, Rusell is an easy going man, he is always present for anything you need, so you are not going to be alone in Salvador, whatever you need, he is going to be there.
The Hostel is very clean, not expensive, and be sure you will like it.

Ask for Barra Shopping, ( Large shopping center ) All the Taxi drivers know this shopping center, then ask for (Bar Chico 2 )Turn right onto Rua Recife you will find us 200m up on the right by a telephone box. ( 2 Lamps outside the front door )

Take the bus that is in front of the Airport â Praca de Se. Ask the driver to drop you in front of the Barra Center - at the junction of Av Oceanica and Marques De Caravelas. Once you are there, you come back a few meters where there is an ice cream shop on the corner of Marques de Caravelas. Take Marques Caravelas and go ahead till you find the HSBC bank on the right 4/5 min walk. Turn right into that street. Go down to the cross roads 50 meters go straight across into Rua Recife we are on the right by a public telephone box about 150 Meters.
