The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. The moment we arrived he sat down with us and a map and helped us figure out what to do in the city. There are free laundry facilities and you get to dry your clothes like the locals (on a pole out the window). We had the only private room. The dorm room is also the common room, which is slightly awkward. During my stay the dorm room was only half full, though, so it wasn't too noisy and everyone seemed to be comfortable.
It is far removed from the main parts of town like Chinatown, the Harborfront, the Merlion, etc. But it's incredibly close to the Zoo and Night Safari. It cost about $5-8 (depending on the time of day) to take a taxi there. It's really close to the Marsiling MRT station, several grocery stores, convenience stores, and shopping malls. There is also a taxi stand right next to the MRT station. It shouldn't be a surprise considering there are over 100 food hawker markets in the city, but I was very pleased to find one less than a minutes walk from the front door. Delicious!

Yang is an awesome host and always available with advice and help in Singapore. he makes a nice place great. It is further out, but I enjoyed the ride on the train which is cheap. The local 50 meter pool is perfect for a good swim and what a deal. $1 all day. other thing about being further out is the food at the local street markets was cheap and really good.

The only bad thing was the location.
But I will stay here again if I happen to be in Singapore. So great!!

(1) In the residential area and 1 min walk from Marsiling MRT station, Supermarket and local food court. - There is no better place to indulge in the local culture and going to places of interest in Singapore!
(2) A stone throw away from Singapore/Malaysia border and this makes us the best spot to stay if you are travelling overland in/out of Singapore to Malaysia.
(3) We are the nearest hostel to Woodlands Railway Train station, simply 20 mins walk or by bus within 10 min right at our door
(4) Direct bus to Senai Airport City lounge at Kota Raya Bus Terminal and Johore Bahru Railway station right at our door

(1) 10-minute TAXI ride (about S$6 to 8) to Singapore Zoological Gardens, Night Safari and Mandai Orchid Garden Direct Public Bus (number 926) run to the Zoo on Sunday and Public Holiday at $1.40
(2) Direct Public bus (number 961) in 25 minutes to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve which will get you up close with the monkeys(see picture no. 6)
(3) Direct public bus ( number 925) in 20 minutes to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve which will get you up close and personal with the LIZARD (see picture no. 3)
(4) Direct MRT/Metro/Subway in 30 minutes to Chinese Garden and Singapore Science Centre
