I cannot recommend this hostel highly enough. Everything about our stay there was spot on- clean, friendly, in a very cool area and a completely unique experience. Free breakfast would have made it perfect but I still definitely couldn't complain about anything.

This is a great hostel, the staff were really lovely and the way they have used the old jail building is great, and stylish too. free wifi downstairs is also a bonus. good breakfast included in the price of the bed. short walk to the train station.
small negatives were to do with cleanliness: for example in my room the shower was moldy. But having said that, Ive staying in starred hotels that were much worse. Ironically I think it was because everything else was so good that these small things were noticeable. and hey, ensuite shower for every dorm room, thats pretty great too.
I would recommend earplugs if you want to sleep early. But if you want to go to sleep early what are you doing in a hip hostel with live music and restaurants onsite?
I would definitely go back.

Nice place to stay! Very convenient public rooms. The area might seem a little dangerous or weird but it's absolutely safe. Only 10mn from the train station and 10mn from downtown. Helpfull staff 24/7.

It is hard to find something negative to say about our stay, but if I HAD to, I would say that only the food was slightly disappointing, and yet it was OK considering the price. The breakfast was sufficient, only the coffee from the coffeemachine was horrible (so I bought mine separately from the counter).We were really looking forward to the BBQ Party (all you can eat for 5 €) but that was a let down.
It was quite noisy during the night - sometimes by other guests, which was expected since after all it is a youth hostel, but most times it was the car alarms going off several times a night - so loud you couldn't be sure if it was a fire alarm or something else. I hope those cars didn't belong to the staff... if they did, shame on you!
Surprisingly there was no noise from the Metelkova clubs and pubs, but just from the Celica restaurant below our room, and even that stopped at midnight. Most of the time the music was good, so we didn't mind that much.
It was very clean and nice everywhere. The only problem was at the shared shower where the sewers kept clogging so the floor was wet all the time and there was nothing much where to hang your clothes and stuff. This should be easily fixed.
The cell we were staying was very bare, basically it was just the beds, a table, chair and shaky ladders. One coat hanger, so we had to keep our stuff in our bags all the time. Getting in the upper bed required some courage and planning, I would be wary if I was faint at heart or had any troubles with climbing. Also, there was nothing to stop you from falling from there, yikes!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, smiling all the time. The guys and gals working at the bar were so busy all the time, we almost felt sorry having to ask them for a cup of coffee or a glass of something. And those guys just kept smiling :D I think we ought to send some people from Finland over there to learn what GOOD SERVICE is all about!
The day trips we took were awesome and well worth the price. Transportation was well organized, cars were good and proper size, we got to see parts of Slovenia also outside of Ljubljana . A special thanks for our guides Luka and Sabina - they were both very knowledgeable, patient and humorous. We learned a lot about the history, geo- and topography and life in Slovenia in general. This is how memories are made.I would definately recommed visiting Slovenia and staying at Hostel Celica for everyone.
