Kimbo Lodge Backpackers is ideally situated on the corner of Buitenkant and Roeland streets in the heart of Cape Town, bordering Cape Town CBD, Gardens and District Six. Our backpackers Lodge offers 12 rooms above one of Cape Towns oldest historic Hotel and pubs (The Kimberley Hotel) that was built in 1895. This hotel was originally the starting point for the first settlers/miners and prospectors who travelled on horse-drawn carriages to the town of Kimberleys diamond mines. The Hotel and traditional Barnies English pub (locally known as The Kimbo Pub) on the ground level still offers a vintage charm with tiled walls, dark wood, as well as diamond and gold mining. Being at the edge of Cape Town City, the District Six Museum, Cape Towns historic Parliament, Green Market Square, The Castle of Goodhope, Gardens Shopping Mall and Long street (to mention but a few) are all in walking distance. Table Mountain Cable Way, The Waterfront, Seapoint and Camps Bay and their beaches are all within a 5 to 15 minutes drive. The surrounding neighbourhood is also famous for its Boutique Shops, Restaurants, Bars, Coffee shops and Nightclubs

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The place is ok but we won't be going back. The place has Victorian charm, so if that's your thing you might really like it. We stayed in a double en suite room, but were very disappointed that there was only a bathtub without a shower fitting. The breakfast was good and they were nice enough to serve it to us whenever we emerged from our room (some places end breakfast at 10), and we had a very nice view of table mountain from our private balcony. Unfortunately we found the bar too noisy, they had no usernames/passwords for the wi-fi and the creeks from the floors above as people walked around upstairs was annoying. I'm sure plenty of people enjoy their stay, but there were too many small things we didn't enjoy so we ended up canceling our additional bookings.
