The hostel has good facilities and is in a convenient location for Long Street. There is a decent cafe bar on site if you don't want to cook. Staff are helpful and can book and advise on tours.

I really enjoyed my stay at the backpacker and would recommend it to someone who is looking to experience cape town and meet other people on there travels. I was very impressed with the hostels location, atmosphere and the service I received.

My first trip to Cape Town. I was very impressed with The Backpackers. The staff were friendly and especially helpful with travel advice about the city. The rooms were large and comfortable. The food was good and the weekly BBQ delicious, the dining room with a roaring fire in the evening a very pleasant place to have a drink. My only comment, as a none smoker, I think smoking should be banned in the alfresco dinning area, it is only a small area and as soon as there is one smoker out there it becomes unpleasant for diners. Perhaps smokers could be accommodated out near the pool.
