Wow, what a location. I would certainly recommend this hostel. Magical views and adequate sleeping arrangements although the beds are a little on the short side especially if you are tall. Very safe as there is security outside 24/7 Breakfast simple and a good choice of evening meals.

About Santos Express Train Lodge
Simply known as `The Train` by locals, and situated at Santos beach, Mossel Bay in the heart of the famous Garden Route of South Africa.
Enjoy the unique and romantic experience of staying on a real train only 30 metres from the sea on the Indian Ocean side of Cape Town.
With double, single and budget compartments, accommodation has spectacular sea views and hot, clean showers. Great seafood, traditional meals, seafood, regular braai`s (South African for BBQ!). Cosy bar, stunning view and a nice warm atmosphere.

2. Ignore the turn-off to town and carry on with the long left bend down the hill
3. At the bottom of the hill turn right towards town.
4. Just before town center, turn left to Santos Beach
5. We're 100m on the left, right on the beach.

Wow, what a location. I would certainly recommend this hostel. Magical views and adequate sleeping arrangements although the beds are a little on the short side especially if you are tall. Very safe as there is security outside 24/7 Breakfast simple and a good choice of evening meals. Wasn't sure if sink in bedroom was of any practical use, the ones down the corridor were though. Would definitely stay here again.

I did not stay at the Santos Express Train.
I'd booked electronically, but upon arrival was extremely disappointed as the room and showers was unclean.
I was very put off and decided to find othe accomodation.
It was disappointing to me as i really looked forward to staying in the train, but due to the aforementioned we had to run around to look for other accomodation and we've 'lost' the money we paid for the deposit.Jo
