‘1322 Backpackers’ is a relaxed, spacious and fun place with great accommodation and tours at fantastic prices, it pretty much has everything you could want!

Situated in a safe area with secure parking on site, 1322 is next door to the High Performance Centre at the University sports fields and a short walk from the lively suburb of Hatfield with its restaurants, nightclubs, shops etc. Most embassies are also in the immediate vicinity.

Pick-up rates from Johannesburg Airport (and anywhere else!) are excellent and we also offer bicycle hire, Baz Bus or free drop off/pick up car rental.

Ready and willing to help with all your travel plans, the 1322 travel advice service ensures you get great prices for tours including Kruger Park, Pilanesberg, Sun City, Soweto & Apartheid Museum etc.

Laundry facilities, ASDL internet, satellite television, braai (BBQ) area, boma (bonfire) and bar (with sport TV) all await you. Make use of our lovely garden and take in some sun and then dip in the stunning pool.

Rustle up your own meal in our fully equipped kitchen or have a beer while we do the cooking for you. Free tea and coffee is available all day and a light breakfast is included.

All the rooms have fans for the hot summer days and most have heaters for any chilly winter nights. The Lion and Lioness dorms have showers attached and most beds have individual reading lights.

The showers are hot, the bed linen is provided and the mattresses are comfortable! The excellent staff works quietly but efficiently to keep everything impeccably clean and ready for use.

If you need more than one room please book one room and then contact us for your specific needs so we can make the necessary arrangements. We reserve the right to change bookings of 1-2 nights for the en-suite to a normal double with shared bathroom.

Those of African nationality must pay the balance pre arrival and leave their ID card and passports at reception for the full duration of their stay.

There are two Arcadia Streets in Hatfield! We are on the University Sports Fields side of Duncan Street.

If coming from Pretoria centre… take Church Street or Schoeman Street, turn right into Hilda towards Hatfield (go across Arcadia Street!!) and turn left into Park Street. Go to the end of Park Street, crossing Duncan Street in the process, and when reaching the Maratimo Sports Ground turn left into Richard Street and first right into Arcadia Street. 1322 is on the left.

From the Johannesburg International Airport remain on route R21 until you reach the N1 Johannesburg/Pretoria road (approximately 10 Km's). Here an off ramp will guide you onto the N1 Johannesburg/Pretoria. Take this off ramp and follow the directions to N1 Pretoria. After approximately 10 Km's you will reach another off ramp that is sign posted N4 Pretoria/Witbank. Take this off ramp and follow the directions to N4 Pretoria. Continue down this road and you'll note that it becomes a 4 lane one way street. At the first set of traffic lights you'll see a McDonalds on your left-hand side. Here you must turn left into Gordon Street which leads into Duncan Street, go over the railway and turn left into Park Street, go to the end of Park Street (Maratimo Sports Ground will be directly in front of you) and turn left into Richard Street and first right into Arcadia Street. 1322 is on the left.

From the Johannesburg International Airport you must remain on route R21 until you reach the Fountains circle. Here you must turn right into George Storrar Drive (route M7). Continue along George Storrar drive until you reach the Brooklyn circle. There you must turn left (into the circle at 06h00 and out at 10h00) into Duncan Street (still route M7). Continue down Duncan Street until you reach the 6th traffic light. At this traffic light you must turn right into Park Street, go to the end of Park Street (Maratimo Sports Ground will be directly in front of you) and turn left into Richard Street and first right into Arcadia Street. 1322 is on the left.
