Pleasant hotel in a very central location 5 mins away from the main square and the Ramblas. Not much of a view out of the window (a brick wall), but maybe we just got unlucky. Would stay there again anyway.

The Urquinaona Hotel is one of the best located hotels in its category, one star, in Barcelona City. The entire building, which dates from the second part of the 19th century, was built in the currently style of that time in the neighbourhood of L'Eixample in Barcelona; the pre- modernism. The hotel opened in summer of 1999.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, fridge, safety box and complete bathroom. Other services you can enjoy as well: our own restaurant and coffee bar (in the building close to the hotel).

This hotel was located a 5 min walk from Placa Catalunya and the nearest metro station was 20 meters from the hotel door. The staff was friendly and all of them spoke English. The hotel was rated with 1 star but it had everything I needed; clean sheets and towels, working and clean toilet, clean shower with warm water AND more; tv, small fridge and free wi-fi. The breakfast was included in the room price that was reasonable. I can recommend this hotel to anyone who does not seek 5 star luxury service and is comfortable with homey feeling.

Hotel Urquinaona is located closely together of the well-known Urquinaona Square and Gran Via, in the neuralgic center of Barcelona.
In a zone that offers an excellent cultural supply and communications to go to any point of the city.
HOW TO GET TO THE HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT
TAXIS
Barcelona taxis are easily spotted with their yellow and black livery there are taxi ranks outside each airport terminal building. The journey into the city takes about 20 minutes.
AIRBUS
The bus is called Aerobus and is in blue colour. There is a stop in front of each of the 3 terminal buildings. The bus operates on a loop between the airport and Plaça Catalunya. The hotel is located only five minutes walking from the last bus stop.
TRAIN
There is a bridge with travelator linking the station with the terminal buildings. To come to the hotel you should stop in Plaça Catalunya and then there is a five minutes walk.
