Budget Accommodation Europe Spain San Sebastian Hostels Pension Loinaz
Upon arriving to the location and buzzing the doorbell the owner/receptionist would not let us in, insisting that we did not have reservations. This was really uncomfortable as we had all of our belongings in this small, dark street in the middle of the night with groups of drunk people (Semana Grande in San Sebastian) walking by all of our stuff. After 10 minutes of talking to the owner through the intercom system he found our names and let us in. If it was not for it being late at night I would've found somewhere else to stay, but also being Semana Grande everything was booked and could not even book elsewhere the next day. I would JUST AVOID THE HASTLE of possibly having this place misplace your reservations.

We stayed here in August 2011 and although it is nice enough people should be aware that there is no air-con and it is very hot, to the point that we really struggled to sleep. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable and the noise from the street is very loud (2am to 3am people partying under the window). We read similar reviews about the noise but did not think it would be a problem but it really is. I would suggest staying just out of the main area, it is all soo close that you don't need to be in the middle. Friendly owners and clean facilities but really difficult to get any sleep.

We really enjoyed our stay at the pension. We stayed in a double and shared a bathroom with the others on our floor. We had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly as well as helpful. The two things that visitors should be aware of - especially if they are over 20:
1) Parking fees will increase the cost of your stay by 20 Euros a day. You should include this in your cost calculation.
2) You will have to deal with others' exceedingly low level of hygene and noise, which can negatively affect the average level considerably and quickly, as most guests appear to be fresh from their A-levels yet still incapable of cleaning up after themselves in more than one way (note that there are the - for some apparently necessary - rubber sheets between the real sheets and matress).
