BEWARE!!!! FOR THE INSANELY STEEP PRICE, THIS APPARENTLY AWARD-WINNING HOSTEL IS SURPRISINGLY POOR. IN FACT, I HAVEN'T STAYED ANYWHERE THIS BAD IN A LONG, LONG TIME - AND I'M A TRAVEL JOURNALIST. THE WI-FI DIDN'T WORK ('I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE MUST BE USING IT' SAID THE RECEPTIONIST). THE ENTRY KEY DIDN'T WORK AFTER THE RECEPTION CLOSED AT 10PM (AS I WAS TRYING TO WORK THE WIFI IN THE LOBBY, I WAS HAVING TO LET GUESTS IN FROM THE STREET - THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED OTHERWISE), AND THE TWIN ROOM WAS EXTREMELY BARE AND PRISON-LIKE. ONE ELECTRIC SOCKET ONLY. FOR 100 SWISS FRANCS (83 EUROS!!!) YOU DON'T EVEN GET BREAKFAST, BUT YOU ARE OFFERED A DISCOUNT OF 4 SF ON A SIMPLE MEAL COSTING A 'DISCOUNT' 20SF (17 EUROS!) THAT ISN'T EVEN PROVIDED ON THE PREMISES. THIS IS, FRANKLY, A COMPLETE RIP-OFF OF A HOSTEL IN A PRIME CITY-CENTRE LOCATION - AND I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE AT ALL.

Hallo, this was my first time anyway in an Backpackers Hotel.

Bern Backpackers Hotel&Hostel Glocke gave me all I needed for a good value of money, most plus is the location in this fine neighbourhood in the centre of Bern. I was very satisfied with my stay in this hotel.
Good possibility's for shower and personal care.
I will recommend it to my friends.

recommend the Tower Suite for any family of three staying for a few days or more and would also like to do a bit of own cooking

The location of this hostel was great and the facilities were nice. You should bring your own towel because they charge extra for renting towels. There is small community kitchen for cooking and storing food. I think it is a good place to stay for a short trip to Bern.
