Karibu. Nice place but a little bit far from the center. For someone who wants to escape city's noises and has a mean of transportation. People are welcoming, nice and very helpful. Rooms are simplistic and the motel isn't totaly built.

Uplands Centre Hostel is located at Changanyikeni area on Observation Hill, near to the University of Dar es Salaam (The Hill), opposite to the Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (Takwimu).

The high altitude compared to its surroundings enables it to enjoy the cool breezes of the Indian Ocean from the east.

It has twenty-eight self-contained rooms with two beds each. We provide meals per order in our restaurant and, for your safety, have security arrangements with a professional security firm.

Uplands Centre Hostel is located at Changanyikeni area near the University of Dar es Salaam (The Hill), opposite to the Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (Takwimu). Taxi charge from the airport to the hostel is Tshs. 25,000 (around USD 20). If you prefer to take public transport (Daladala), take a daladala from the airport to Ubungo Daladala stand, at a cost of Tshs. 300. Then ask for a daladala to Changanyikeni village, drop at the EASTC (Statitics) bus stand and ask for the Uplands Centre Hostel nearby. The cost is also Tshs. 300.
