I had the most amazing time at Mavi Guesthouse. The staff is genuinely nice and very very helpful. It is a very relaxed place where you find yourself staying close to the hostel half a day instead of doing sightseeing just because it's so nice and feels homely! The view from the rooftop dorm is simply amazing as well!

Mavi Guesthouse is a small, friendly guesthouse located in the heart of Sutanahmet, Istanbul. With a friendly environment and helpful staff, your stay at Mavi Guesthouse will make your visit to Istanbul an experience to remember.
Centrally Located - Located in the heart of Sultanahmet, we are just a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Underground Cistern, Topkapi Palace, and only ten minutes from the Grand Bazaar.
Easy Transportation - We are located near to tram stops, bus stations, ferries, and airport shuttle stops, making it easy to get to all of the sights of Istanbul and beyond.

Choice of Accommodation - We have accommodation varying from private rooms- to dorm beds- to ROOFTOP sleeping, so there will certainly be something to match your TRAVELLERS BUDGET Our rooftop dorm has 25 bunk beds, so if you have a large group and pre book it would be ideal. The rooftop has shower and toilet facilities. We are the only hostel with a large rooftop dormitory and the view of Hagia Sophia is awesome. Breakfast is included with all accommodation, so you can start your day breakfasting and chatting with fellow travelers whilst sitting outside on our terrace.
Friendly Staff - We can help arrange tours in both Istanbul and all around Turkey, provide helpful tips and information about the city, and help with any other of your travel needs. We are here to make your stay enjoyable and hassle free. We will even teach you to play backgammon like a pro!

I stayed in a double room, which really was a single room because there was practically no space for more than one person. The double bed took 3/4 of the room space and luggage and door the rest. But the room was cool and I slept well. Considering the price it was good value.
The reception was personal, welcoming and also highly efficient. It is a well-run hotel!
Extremely nice atmosphere with a lot of young people (no Turkish guests evidently) and the location ideal. Good breakfast included in price, reasonable prices on extra drinks etc.
I really enjoyed the stay.

Directions
The metro from the airport runs from 7am until midnight, catch this and get off at the Aksaray stop. From Aksaray metro stop walk to Yusufpasa tram stop (300 metres approx.) then get a tram to the Sultanahmet stop (old city).
Mavi Guesthouse is a short walk away.
From the Bus station take a metro to Aksaray then take a tram to Sultanahmet area, we are a short walk away.
We also arrange airport transfer for 20 euro before 23.00 , 25 euro after
23:00 (total till 4 persons, cheaper then taxi and safer for you ) , my friend will be
there with Mavi guesthouse sign and your name , if you like to have this
service please let us know about your flight details.
Please Not : this prices ( 20 or 25 euro) for Ataturk Airport. if you coming to the Sabiha Gokcen airport it is 48 euro .Sabiha Airport is opened just last year for
international flights and very far from town ( around 55 kms)
