(You'll have to memorize the bus schedule though, as the bus only goes every 40 minutes.) Staff is quite helpful and really listens to feedback - I filled in a comment card about unusable WiFi on my first day here (all ports were blocked), and that was fixed a few days later; similarly with missing knives in the kitchen.
One warning: Don't stay here if you're over 1.90 meter long; that's how long the bunk beds are, and they're completely built in with slats all around, so you can't stick out your feet anywhere. After a week of sleeping in these beds I had serious back problems, and resorted to sleeping on the ground. (Also, apparently if you book a double room here, you have a high chance of _also_ getting a room with bunk beds; just a private one.)

Good place to stay and visit Banff and its surroundings.

We really enjoyed our stay at HI-Banff Alpine Centre. Staff were helpful and appeared happy to work there. Facilities were clean, the restaurant was inexpensive and well catered and generally a good experience especially after having just stayed at HI-Jasper Hostel for the same cost, we were afraid of finding the same conditions again but were pleasantly surprised.

Overall, it was a great banf for our buck; however, the room literally only fit the double bed and not much more. Even though we were on the 3rd floor, we could still hear a lot of the noise coming from the club in the basement. Other then that, the washrooms were very clean, as was the room.

We (two of us) booked 2 beds in a 4-dorm room but on the arrival we were told that 4bed room is not available and were sent to a 6-dorm room. There were 5 people already in that room so we went back to the reception and got them to find 2 beds. After a while we got our two beds in a 4-dorm room.
Re the price, we were in Banff at the beginning of June and we found hotels and B&Bs directly in town for 50-60 CAN$ per private room. Paying $70 for two shared beds wasn't worth it.
My recommendation would be to come in to town of Banff first, check there and use HI Banff Alpine Centre as a last resort.
