Australian owned and operated, The Kosmonaut Hostel is a tribute to those who dare to explore new frontiers.

Our philosophy? Simple. Free breakfast, free washing machine, free filtered water, free tea and coffee, free internet, free wi-fi! Our listed price includes everything! Our exceptionally pleasant and helpful staff work 8 hour shifts (not 24!) and are ready to assist you with local information, ticket purchasing and any other advice.

Check out our floor-plan in the photos section! See our spacious dormitories, multiple bathrooms, reception-lounge, kitchen-lounge and reading room. There's over 220 square meters of 'space' to enjoy at The Kosmonaut!

We have 12, 10, 6 and 4 bed dormitories, plus one private room with two single beds, with shared bathroom facilities. Our rooms are furnished with brand new steel Ikea bunks, mattresses and linen. We also offer a private room with en-suite bathroom, microwave and double bed.

Our Kitchen and Common Rooms are huge, fully functional and open all hours. We have an enormous and welcoming kitchen table, couches, computer with free internet and wi-fi access, coffee-machine, microwave, hotplate, fridge, free water cooler, and a selection of board-games and books to keep you occupied in the evening.

Customers can also enjoy a vast array of Soviet paraphernalia and other antiques and collectibles which give our hostel a 'museum' like appeal you can touch!

We are the best located hostel in L'viv, at no. 8 Sichovykh Striltsiv St. (Січових Стрільців 8), only 500 meters from the old town square, 150 meters from the Shevchenko Monument and 2km from the train station!

Our street is a hive of activity during the day, but is pleasantly peaceful during the night. We are only 20 meters from the famous 'Puzata Hata' Ukrainian Restaurant which serves hearty backpacker's meals from 2 euro. The city's main pubs, clubs, restaurants, markets and landmarks are all within comfortable walking distance.

VISA SUPPORT

Citizens of the European Union, USA, Canada, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Andorra, Japan, Korea, Norway, Monaco or The Vatican City DO NOT require a visa for stays of up to 90 days in Ukraine.

All others, including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Croatia etc. should contact us directly to arrange an invitation letter to take to your nearest Ukrainian Consulate or Embassy. Please allow at least 24 hours for us to send your invitation and at least a further 24 hours for consular procedure.

Don't worry, it's very simple!

DIRECTIONS:

We advise you firstly to print our map in the photos section. It's in Cyrillic and Latin. With our central location, you can also find our street in all guidebooks.

From the TRAIN STATION, take the number 1 or 9 tram to Petra Doroshenka st. (Дорошенка), then walk back, turn right at Kostyooshka st. (Костюшка), then take your first right and you are on Sichovykh Striltsiv. We are building number 8, on the left hand side about 20 meters down. Enter the archway, take the stairs through the doorway on the right hand side to the first floor, and turn left! Please note: trams cost 1 Ukrainian Hryvnia.

NOTE: Tram tickets ('kvitoki') are purchased on board from the driver and must be validated!

From the main BUS STATION, take 'Marshootka' (Small Bus for 1.50 UAH) number 71 to the center. Simply print our map and indicate our location to the driver or ask for 'Shevchenko Monument' which is on the main boulevard called 'Prospect Shevchenko'.

TAXIS from the train station are approximately 30 UAH and from the bus station 40 UAH. Negotiate the price prior to departure!

From the AIRPORT take trolley bus number 9 to Ivano Franko University which is on the corner of our street. Alternatively may take a taxi which should cost approximately 40 to 50 UAH.
