Abercrombie's Farrington Inn

Photos Facilities Map Streetview Reviews

The Farrington is a small guest house with air conditioned private rooms and dorm beds (in season). Located right on the Green Train of the Boston Subway system, the Farrington is an economical choice in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

We rent by the night or by the week, we have a nice selection of furnished rooms. We cater to the budget minded, so please don't expect first-class accommodations, but we feel all of our units are an excellent value. We're in a great location to get around the city, two blocks from the subway, and less than a quarter mile from Exit 18 of interstate 90. If you're looking on a map, we're just west of Boston University, and six blocks north of John Kennedy's birthplace.

Boston is a city alive with historical attractions and points of interest. We have seven world-class art museums, the country's oldest naval warship, a huge aquarium, four major league sports teams, forty two colleges of higher learning, the oldest underground subway system in North America, the historic Freedom Trail, and the best seafood in the country.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Well, not a lot of things to say, for 50$ by night could be fair but for 110$ by night it's like a theft... If you have the choice go anywhere else.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Abercrombie's Farrington Inn is simply the worst place I slept ever!
Dirty and strip sheets, dirt anywhere, everything broken and old, and amazing expensive price for a place that could be good perhaps for homeless people. Sincerely I don't know what I can say worst... just stay away from there!

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Stayed in private room with shared bathroom. Room was clean and fine, and there is also a shared kitchenette. The bathroom is not so bad, too, considering that it is a shared one, but it is not cleaned every day. I was expecting this for the rooms, but the bathroom... well, is a bit different. I was lucky and there was only one other person sharing it with me, but I suspect things could get much worse.
Far away from downtown; be prepared to spend 5$ for round-trip ticket. The zone has some good restaurants and places, though. Overall, a good experience.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Good location, easily accessible to the T station and bus stop. Staff are very friendly and helpful too. However, the room I stayed in (on the ground floor) had hardly any heating, and it was too cold to have a good rest. The blanket was stained and dirty too. The room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

this place is absolutely terrible. Located pretty far from downtown bostong ($20 cabride, amazingly difficult to use trains).
Its basically a few flats in a block of rundown student flats. So its noisy as hell, and don't expect on getting much sleep. Room are badly designed, and so is the toilet. There is no mirror by the washbasin, so dont expect an easy shave. No hot water in the mornings, think they turn the hot water on after 8 or something. had a few cold showers as i had to be up early.

I stayed in the single room with shared bathroom (which was located on outside the main "hotel" building which is at 23 farrington), paid over $100 a night. The place was sub bagpacking hostel quality, so avoid at all costs.

oh and the front desk closes at 12. My flight landed at 1am, so I got a call from the desk about it. they "politely" informed me that it was impossible that my flight could get into boston at 1, and that they had never heard of such a thing. After arguing for a good 10 mins, they finally conceeded the point, and taped my room key to a box by the front desk with a map of directions, because the hotel is basically just all over the place.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Very content with the accomodation. Very suitable for budget travellers who do not mind sharing a bathroom in an older house (with a nice atmosphere). Close to shops and public transport to the habour. With facilities like kitchenette/micro-wave, TV, AC, and a free parking space behind the house etc. It is clean and safe, and the staff is friendly.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

the location of the INN was very convenient. The service and facilties were good.

However, i would like to stress on the 'bed bugs' (i was staying in Room No 114)......it was really horrible to sleep in the room ..infact for both the nights i had to put the bed sheet on the carpet to sleep....i must say that you should do something about it immediately for the next travellers to have pleasent sleep and a energetic day ahead..

apologies for sounding little harsh...but i was really very upset about this fact. 144 Dollars for two nights, atleast i deserve to have a sound sleep...

regards,
chetan.
