Latest Review for Berkeley Residence, YWCA

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The place is good, although there's no air conditioner in the rooms and the wheater was very hot.
Breakfast is good but only in the weekends.
There's a lot of elderly people I don't see problems with that though.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Well,
It wasn't great at all. The location is ideal, just a couple min to Boston Common and shopping, but everything else...
The building is 50 years old, and it doesn't seem to have had any improvement or renovation, the room was small and it smelled bad, the beds were uncomfortable, there's no AC, and shared bathroom. The elevator was incredibly slow. The staff is nice and polite but we were and the breakfast was ok too, but we didn't sleep well. I'm sure that for even that price it's possible to get something better.

The hostel is in the center (walking distance from downtown, Prudential, Shouth station). It is not a luxurious hotel, but in my opinion it can meet all esential needs of a traveller including a sefl-service laundry.

The staff were very friendly, but there was no self catering kitchen, which I think should be needed in a youth hostel. Also the 'youth' hostel acts as a elderly residence, which I found affected the atmosphere of the place.

This place has decent location...apart from that it is distinctly average. The room was pretty rubbish especially for the price but its the location your paying for i guess. the beds were old hospital beds and there were no carpets on any of the floors. the tv room was something out of the 50s and you even have to sign a book for the tv remote! if you go here expecting to meet other travellers then your going to the wrong place, the people staying here all seem to be permanent residents, and with it being ywca they're all old women. the queue at breakfast was like a scene straight out of a retirement home...no joke zimmer frames and all! the breakfast was a positive though...
