Right in the centre of Funchal, just 30 metres from the Cathedral, the Residencial Americana is on the top floors of an historical and beautiful building that surrounds the famous Largo do Chafariz.

The 10 double rooms (5 with balcony), 4 studios (2 with balcony) and 2 Apartments with balcony have just been renovated and all have private bathroom, cable TV, direct telephone, safe, refrigerator and coffee/tea facilities. The studios and the Apartments have a kitchenette.

From some rooms you have a magnificent view over the Cathedral, the historical building Banco da Madeira and Largo do Chafariz.

The Residencial has an attending service of 24 hours a day and offers as well a Breakfast room for those who want to have breakfast.

Regarding Residencial Americana, there are several points that should be mentioned: First, the location is wonderful, right in downtown of Funchal near Pharmacies, restaurants, coffee-shops, gift-shops, the works... that is rather convenient, but in the Sumeer at least it brings several issues like the night noise from the restaurants, coffees and parties; another main issue is related with parking, since Residencial Americana has no designated parking spaces and the prices for parking the car in Funchal are ridiculously high. Your arrival at the Residencial is blessed with a Call Button, when someone is not there to receive you - no worries, there is always someone at the other end of the telephone, even if they don't seem so "normal" at first. After the door is opened, you are presented with yet another surprise: a big stairway, specially if you have big cases. The rooms are small, yet clean and with nice conditions; the bathroom is really small, the shower being the downpoint due to its reaaaaally small size. In the morning, the breakfast is the worst part - if you can, discard it in your reservation and go eat outside; i garantee there will be wonderful places spread throughout the town. That is all from our stay in Funchal, we recommend this place and we hope you enjoy it as we did. Cheers
