Headlines! We are open again after Hurricane Isaac! Also we are still aggressively tackling the bedbug situation that’s plagued many hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts around the United States. As of August 14 we brought in a company to treat each room with heat up to 135 degrees. This is reported to be the only effective method to get rid of bed bugs. Please be advised that early check-in may not be available due to the fact that we want to make sure each room gets treated. We apologize for the inconvenience and we look forward to your visit to the Big Easy and Joe and Flo.
We are still the closest hostel to the French quarter – only five blocks! Don’t be fooled! We also have an overflow location in the Carrolloton area only four blocks from the streetcar line, with a bus to downtown leaving directly from in front of the door.
And did we mention our free pancake breakfast?
We are operating at full capacity. We have central air and heat plus a commercial generator in case of a power outage. Never be in the dark!
After a stroll in the French quarter, a walk on Bourbon St., or just a tour of the city, come back and relax in our courtyard with music, have a cool drink or relax in your room with cable TV, mini refrigerator, television and ceiling fans.
Don’t forget to book now for upcoming events – and save on taxi and bus far by checking out our special airport pickup; ride in comfort and style, just look for the white Lincoln. Step out the airport to your ride! Only $20! If you wish to book this, our contact information will be in your booking confirmation.
A message from Ms. Kansas Montgomery (owner) - thank you to all the guests who have visited with us and have embraced the culture of our unique city! Thank you for the favourable reviews; we are by far one of the best hostels in the city.
Remember: this is a hostel. We do not provide daily room service but we would be glad to provide extra towels, etc, upon request. We do want our guest to be comfortable as well as have a great time!
Our hostel is only eight blocks from world-famous Bourbon Street and minutes from Canal Street.
We’re situated in a quiet and secure neighbourhood, just one block from the HBO filming of Treme; come check us out and maybe be an extra!
Our staff are available to help you (Skylar, Alicia, and Sharrell).
We’re perfect for your trip to New Orleans. Weekly and monthly dorm and private room rates are available.
We look forward to having you stay with us in 2013 and beyond!
Please read our Things to Note below before booking.
Due to the high cost of supplies and maintenance we will no longer supply endless supply of toilet paper. Each room will have a fresh roll and each additional roll will cost 50 cents.
There will no longer be a free supply of towels. Towels are available for rent. So, please bring your own towels!
Taxes are not included in the room rate. An additional charge of 9.5% will be added to your bill upon arrival; please include this in your budget calculations.
Thank you for choosing Joe and Flo's and enjoy your stay!
Check-in: 4pm. If you will be arriving late, please call 504-581-6689 to inform us if you will be arriving later than this time. If you have not checked in or called us by 10pm, we will presume you are a no-show and will cancel your reservation and charge you for one night’s stay.

I got there at midnight, after making sure with the owners that is ok.
Nobody answered. I was warned by the cab driver its a dangerous area so he stayed with me for the 30 minutes I was trying to call the number written. In my despiration, I knocked on the windows of the guests and finally one that was there got me in.
Since no one was there I had to sleep on the floor in the living room.
When I woke up the following day,I was given a single room as a compensation, and I was told I should not pay for last night (Thanks!).A day later when I was checking out, the manager said I should not have recieved both "gifts" and I should have either pay(!) for that night or offered the single room, but not both.
In conclusion, stay away!

Old style building but kept in good condition very friendly and polite staff. Would recommend and would use again only thing I found sharing a bathroom was a pain but I knew that when I booked hostel. 10 to 15 minutes walk to bourbon st and river walk.

There were many positives but also some negatives about our stay at Jo and Flo's. First off, and perhaps most importantly we had a broken bed, and it was VERY broken! This is a problem that really needs to be sorted, as i do not believe that some people would have accepted sleeping on it without complaint. Another fault was the shower which basically didnt work, it was nothing more than a drip... With a sign in the bathroom saying 'Do not wash hair in sink', this was in fact the only option...
These are the two main points that detracted from our stay. The hostel was clean but a few small improvements could have made it appear cleaner e.g new shower curtain, toilet seat etc. They achieve the 'homely' style of decor well, however this is not really to our taste. The pillows left a lot to be desired. We had one each and it was so flimsy that we had to use towels as further support.
Positives: the facilities the hostel provided were excellent. Fridge in room was a nice touch, as well as use of the kitchen. Internet was excellent, laundry services were good and they provided shuttle services for an extra charge which was cheaper than taxis. Toiletry exchange is a nice touch for travellers. Secure locking system definitely added the safety factor.
The staff were always willing to help. On arrival we were told everything we needed to know as well as been given a map of attractions in the area which we used throughout our whole trip.
Location was good. 15-20minute walk from main action which was sometimes a bit much for us in the heat after a day of constant walking.
Overall, i think the hostel achieves what it sets out to do: provide reasonably priced accommodation and good services for travellers and those on a budget. We feel with just a lick of paint here and there the place could be a lot better however we would definitely return if travelling on a budget again.

Very friendly environment. Unfortunately, the listing is quite misleading...the hostel itself is rather run-down but I did feel pretty secure.
