Budget Accommodation North America Canada Montreal Hostels Alexandrie-Montréal
One particular host, "H", extends his Canadian welcome with gusto and extended vibrance. Perhaps on his presence alone I would recommend this place. It's not overwhelmingly affordable but was quiet, clean, and well-lived.

We're building a real hostel that fulfill the needs of long-term backpackers:
We think a hostel in Montreal should offer a vibrant style that surprises but is still comfortable.
We can offer good prices because we bought the house in a recession period and it is furnished whit comfortable recycled fourniture. We are so not into Bling Bling and we want you enjoy Montreal for a longer stay.
On the premises we have a large kitchen with three refrigerators. Save money - cook your own meal and buy your own beer!
We're very proud of our new ensuite dorm (with bathroom); We also offer no-frills dorm with a shared bathroom for cheap price.
Our private double room is much like sharing an apartment; this room shares a living room, kitchen and bathroom with just one other room.
Our rooms are lit by natural light! You are in holiday you don't want stay in a basement...
Rates include continental breakfast, bedding, Wi-Fi, local phone calls and laundry!
Everything is around us: the arts and entertainment district, the financial district, Old Montreal, the Latin quarter, McGill campus, and Chinatown. The hip restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance. We're also near the bus station and metro... save on bus passes and taxis! Several grocery stores/markets are in our area as well.
The staff here knows the city very well and will ensure that you get the most out of Montreal without breaking the bank while seeing things that might not be in any guide books!
Alone or with a group or family we have a room or apartment for those on an economic budget.
Check-in: 4pm (earlier if possible)
Check-out: 11am.
Reception closes at 11pm. Please note that we strictly do not accept reservations checking in after 11pm. If you have a reservation before 11pm but think you could arrive later than 11 because of traffic or delays, please book somewhere which is open 24hrs; here the doors will be closed.
Guests will be given keys once they check in.
We have a two-night minimum stay.
We have a 24hr cancellation policy. Please notify us before 4pm the day before arrival.
This is a non-smoking hostel.

It's not overwhelmingly affordable but was quiet, clean, and well-lived. Sure, you're not gonna write home about the schluppy couches or ever present hostel bunk-beds but the second story porch is perfect, the staff is pleasant and the location is lovely...The perfect beginner's platform to Montreal.

Awesome place. Clean, cool people, cool building. It is located in Le Village (aka Gay Village), so there are a lot of same-sex couples walking around. Great location, everything is within walking distance.

The tiny single room ($45 to $50 a night) I got had no place for hanging my clothes, and no ceiling light (just a desk lamp). The linen I got didn't smell very fresh.
I had to share a communal bathroom, which I had expected, but there was only one bathroom near my room, and it was almost always occupied. When I did get to use it, I didn't find it all that clean.
The place was noisy - for instance, people coming in at 1am and slamming doors or talking loudly, so it was hard to get restful sleep.
The only saving grace was the free wifi internet access.
