I liked the Dakota. Architecture quirky and quaint, very San Fran I think. All clean and friendly. Location on main street close to City and convenience store. Great dinners for few $$. Breakfast was only toast really. I'd recommend it. If only for the lift!

The location was the best part about it. I woke up with 2 random drunk men on the floor of my room who were not supposed to be there. This resulted in a disturbance in my sleep as there was two confrontations because of this; one occurung at 3am and the other at 9am. how in the hell did they get in there? security needs to be tightened up to ensure your visitors safety. The doors in the bathroom dont even lock! do you know how uncomfortable it was taking a shit with the door open in front of strangers? I use to be a cleaner I can tell you the standards were not satisfactory. The bed sheets were dirty, the matress covers had dirt on them, the bath was dirty, there was no soap in the bathroom or even towels provided. These basic necessities need to be provided for customers. The locks on the front door of my room were both not working properly either which caused some feelings of discomfort during my stay and made me question the safety of my valuables. I definately think you should inform your guests about the crackheads right outside the vacinity, especially at night at I had many encounters with them. Walking two blocks outside this hostel,I one was approached 9 times for sex; 4 out of the 9 of them whom were men! I am a christian woman, this is not acceptable to me! I aint hating, i'm just telling you how it is.
On a happier note all your staff were amazing and polite. They are the backbone to this hostel. They were very welcoming and friendly and I would even like to take them out as a token of my appreciation.
