Budget Accommodation North America USA Washington, D.C. Hostels Capitol City Hostel
Most important is that Bill provides fantastic service, going out of his way to make sure you have a good time. He gave me medicine when I was sick, called me an airport shuttle, and did other little tidbits that ensured I had a comfortable stay. The double bed bunk beds are also a major bonus!
Capitol City Hostel is the cheapest and maybe, despite our cat named kitty, the Capitol's best value for a non party hostel. We are a private, smoke-free hostel only for international travelers with passports (USA or foriegn). We also accept environmentalists with pay stub, or ISIC/ US University prof or student ID holders (fromschools at least 50 mi outside of DC) with credit card.
Accommodations are basic. Beds may not be in the same room, despite booking 4 beds in a 4 bed bedroom. Included is free 24 hour DSL and WIFI internet ,hot showers and free 24hr peanutbutter toast and tea. Also free are maps, phone calls within the US, and linen. We (because we're strict about the passport and proof of current travel requirement) do not need to offer lockers. Few problems in over 7 years. We also have a laundry service ($5). We have no curfew or lock-out. Check-in, however before 9pm (w/ an hour grace period).
We are located 25 blocks (2 miles) from the Capitol Building and National Mall of memorials, monuments and first-quality and free of charge Smithsonian Museums. We also are located 40 blocks to the White House, all along H Street/ Benning, served by the X2 Metro Bus.
The hostel is easily accessible, just 30 blocks east of the Chinatown bus lines or 22 blocks east of Greyhound or Amtrak. (X2 bus going East on H St). By subway: 12-15 min. walk from Stadium. Continue North and East to the 2400 block of Benning Rd (between 24th and 25th on Benning, the main road, H Street extended East).
Guests must have their passports (or ISIC or University IDs from 50 miles outside of DC and credit card or environmentalist paystub) and proof of international travel. Guests must check-in by 9 PM (w/ a one hour grace period). Guests agree to release, from liability, manager and/ or owner from any and all claims of loss or damage or injury.

Cheap accommodation and you are in for no surprise. The manager, Bill, is amiable and relaxed. If you are looking for a cheap hostel close to the National Mall (museums, Capitol, etc...), go for it.

We have suffered bites of insects. It´s really dirty and smell not well
Bill the owner is a pure gent and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. Linen including a towel is included and the beds are very comfortable double bed bunk beds which I haven't seen before. A great plus is that unlimited internet including some PCs is included in the price plus there's bread, peanut butter, jelly and milk provided. Overall the location is quite a good bit outside the main mall but it does provide a good base to rest up after viewing the city.
