This is a Trusted Review. Why?
We are used to low budget accomodations, but the backpackers was one of the worst, we ever stayed with - although we were still lucky, as we had a private room with a bed, others just had a matress on the floor. The breakfast on the first morning was coffee and pancakes, these we had to prepare on our own. The second day, there was just coffee, the pancake dough was gone (at around 8 a.m.)! And don't be you fooled by the private trail to the beach, that is mentioned.

And don't be you fooled by the private trail to the beach, that is mentioned. It is a half an hour strenous walk down to the sea (and more so back again) through pastures and ends right within cattle, that hangs around the beach (faeces included)! All for 30 Dollars for 2 persons per night (In San Jose we stayed at a beautiful and clean hotel with a luxurious breakfast buffet for 25 Dollars per room with shared bath. Ok, San Jose is not at the sea, but the backpackers is neither)

Comming to Quepos...
Travel to the area is easy and can be done in a number of different ways. Regularly scheduled air service is available through Sansa Airlines, the flight takes 20 minutes. It is a three and a half hour or more, drive by car or bus from San José depending on the weather and traffic.
Direct buses leave from Coca Cola bus terminal in San José three times a day. These are large, comfortable Mercedes buses.
If you are renting a car it is advisable to rent a 4X4 vehible because certain sections of the road can be difficult.
If you are in Quepos..
Ok, now that you've arrived in Quepos, you can breathe a sigh of relief, you're almost here. All you need to do now is catch the local bus which runs from the Quepos bus station to Manuel Antonio National Park every half hour. The bus fare is 210 colones, about $0.35USD. Then, just keep your eyes open for the Manuel Antonio Football field. It's a pretty popular stop and with the help of our map it should be relatively easy to spot. Across the street you will see a pharmacy and a doctor's office, we're located below them. So, follow the arrow pointing down the stairs to Backpackers Manuel Antonio and there you are sure to be greeted by a smile and a kind word of welcome.
Bus service between Quepos' main terminal and the national park departs every half hour from 5:00 am. till 10:00 pm.
