Very busy with very young people seeking a party, drinking, having fun, vomiting... If thats what you are up to, you are definitely right in this place and can have a good stay. If you need a rest from travelling go elsewhere. Location is great. Bathrooms are small and untidy.

Don't know why everyone has been ripping on the location, it was a 15-20 minute walk to wherever my friend and I wanted to go. A little loud with the bar downstairs, but otherwise a lot of fun! Would highly recommend this to anyone who needed somewhere to stay in Vancouver for a VERY reasonable price.

Because this hostel has pub on 1st floor, i felt discomfort to sleep and some drunkers were knocking more than 3 times during sleep...

Despite being two blocks from a slightly dodgy area we were told to avoid while visiting Vancouver, the hostel was in a safe area within walking distance of downtown, close to bars, shops and sights. Friendly staff and excellent cheap food and drink in the bar below. Unfortunately it was very noisy on the weekends as drunk patrons left the bar and stumbled down the street - under the hostel windows - but week nights were quiet and not a problem. Easy access to public transport.

The Cambie Gastown is in a great location, within easy walking distance from the station and therefore perfect for an overnight stay inbetween moving about, as we did. The hostel itself was really nice, the beds were pretty big despite being bunk beds which was a nice change to most hostels!! The building was quite old-fashioned but in a nice way, it felt like a big old houyse,. the kitchen facilities were quite small and you couldn't really make a meal very easily. However, it was joined to a bar which despite being so close wasn't loud at night. The morning trip to the next-door bakery was a highlight for me! The voucher we were given gave us a free continental breakfast, or you could upgrade it to a full cooked breakfast for nect to nothing! Overall everything was very clean, good value for money and friendly and gelpful staff. I would definately reccommend it!

Given the area of town that this hostel is located in, it's not a great surprise what you will find. Double rooms are very basic for what you get.
