We stayed at this lovely place for 4 nights. We were welcomed by Camila (the owner) and her brother who insisted they carry our backpacks/ bags to their property (2 a piece!).
The apartment itself was lovely, quaint, very Croatian. My brother and I shared one spacious room and our parents the other. There was a huge shared balcony with chairs and tables (where you could have breakfast if you wished) as well as room to hang towels to air. The view was magnificent - exactly as in the pictures. You're almost right above the old town but you can see right out into the Mediterranean (180 degrees) with no buildings to obscure your view.
The beds were comfy and the shared bathroom clean and a good size.
On arrival Camilla brought us a large bottle of ice-cold water and asked us if we needed anything. She told us about the sights and how to get around easily as well as where to buy things if we needed them.
We had breakfast each day in the shaded courtyard downstairs which was lovely - surrounded by mandarin trees we ate fresh baguette, home-made jam, tea and fresh coffee. Camilla also brought out different regional delicacies such as the dried figs for us to try.
In the afternoons when we were tired and hot, we'd sit in the courtyard and chat with Camilla, her brother and mum while sharing beers. Camilla would also go to the market daily and always ask us if we wanted her to pick anything up for us.
Overall it was a great place to stay. Friendly owner, quiet, very clean and comfortable rooms, great views, close to town (only 5 minutes walk and 56 steps (which is not very much in Dubrovnik!). I would definitely recommend this place to others. A small fridge would be my only request but given Camilla brought us fresh drinks and stored our bought drinks in her fridge it was no bother really.
Having read previous reviews I am disappointed to hear that others did not enjoy this place. I suppose if you really want a place to yourself with no interactions with the locals, then this may not be the place for you. For us it was great - we learned a lot about the area and Croatian history by talking with Camilla and her brother. We found them to be very gracious, helpful and thoughtful hosts.
Firstly, the name of this property should be changed to "Rooms" Bellavista, as it is most definitely not an apartment. There are two large double rooms, a shared balcony and a shared bathroom and that is it. For 4 people, it was not very comfortable at all, for a number of reasons:
There is no kitchen or even any seating area to speak of, apart from the cramped balcony, and there was not even a small fridge for keeping water cold in our rooms, which was standard in all the other 10 properties we stayed in in Croatia while travelling.
The rooms also join onto a hallway, and the owner's brother lives in an aprtment across this hallway and his television was blaring all night even though we were repeatedly told to be quiet when whispering on the balcony.
The owner herself seems to lack any idea of what it means to rent a room, as she kept walking into our rooms wthout knocking when we were there, and even rearranged our toiletries and clothes while we were at the beach one day which was a bit disturbing to say the least.
The only good thing about the "apartments" is the view, which is fabulous, but a short stroll up any of the streets above dubrovnik will get you that view, without having to deal with a fussy, manic owner who was always intrusive and over-priced accommodation which is NOT an apartment.
