This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The hotel is in a great location, very close to Granville island markets and Robson St with all its bars and restaurants. Plenty of choices surround the hotel too. It’s in an old area of Vancouver , Yale town, that is becoming more upmarket with new construction and renovations. Public transport is right on the doorstep. I was given a free upgrade to a double room. The hotel is old but with a freshly painted interior and new floorboards in the room. The room is small but manages to squeeze in a comfy bed, bar fridge, hand basin central heating, a desk and small TV. There are plenty of lights and mirrors. There are 2 shared bathrooms on each floor and a communal kitchen and laundry on level 1, and a small lounge on level 2. There are no lifts so luggage has to be carried up stairs. The reception staff did this for me. A great place to stay and good value for money.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

We selected the venue because it offered free wi-fi in the rooms and in the lounges. We were unable to access the internet for our entire stay (5 days) so had to pay for expensive coffees in the coffee-shop across the road to be able to use their wi-fi. Also, there were no telephone facilities, so we were frustrated at the limitations in "connectivity".

Our room was tiny, but comfortable enough. The bathrooms were relatively clean, depending on how early you managed to shower. Our room wasn't cleaned once in 5 days, but we did get clean towels.

The day staff were helpful, though, and the location was good in that it was easy to get to most attractions by walking or by bus. The location is on a major bus route and very close to the sky train, so all in all, the place offered relatively good value for money.

Sure it's noisy and more like a hostel than a hotel. But, and it's a big but. The location is fabulous. You walk out the door and you're in the middle of a huge (mostly young people) hangout area. You can pay triple the price at the nearby Sheraton Wall Center and have less fun!

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

This hotel/hostel is a great bargain for the budget travellor in the heart of Vancouver - an easy walk from the Canada-line train to/from the airport, to the seawall and to the ferries to Granville Island. Also the value of having an onsite kitchen and laundry service is a great asset to affordable holidaying in a very expensive city.
The friendly staff made this a safe and enjoyable stay.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Had a room on 3rd floor, but the safe was disable and the wi-fi signal very weak, so the manager moved me to 1st floor with better signal for wi-fi and the safe was safe... got also a double bed room for the same price as a single room paid, due to avaibility.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

This was our last stop in Vancouver and it was a nice way to end the trip. On the outside it looks like a hotel, go in and you get treated like you're in a hotel :-)

The rooms were big, beds comfortable, and there was a safe.

Breakfast was out of this world, and if you're British, this is one of the only places to get a good decent English cuppa!

My only tip is if you don't like noise, don't stay here on a Saturday night, the bar below was open til 3am and you can't sleep for the noise!

Other than that, a great place to stay!
